I use a tandem rig that Don @ BPS in Clarksville introduced me to. I slide a barrel swivel onto the main line and then tie a barrel swivel on to the end of the main line. I then attach a small 4"-6" leader to the sliding barrel swivel and tie on a Gamakatsu 4/0 wide gap on the end. Then I tie a longer leader, usually around 12", to the barrel swivel tied to the end of the main line and attach the same hook to the end of this leader. To each hook I attach an Arkansas shiner colored Zoom jerkbait. This gives you twice the target and produces some really good action. It also gives you a little more casting distance without altering the action too much. The two jerks dart aggressively and stay relatively close together but don't seem to twist much. I throw mine using 10# Excel on a 6'6" ML ProLite Finnesse rod matched with the ProLite Finnesse baitcaster. I really like this set-up for the way i fish the soft jerkbaits but have never really tried fishing them deep. Might be something worth a shot.
