do fish and wildlife officers now inspect

If the info I was told is correct (second hand information) there is no such thing as a water patrol officer anymore. I was told that in my county we have two fish and wild life officers and during warm weather one of them is on the water daily and the other part time. At the peak of deer and turkey season both patrol the field but any other time one of them is on the water. Do they check pleasure craft...yes I had a coworker get his butt chewed buy a fish and wildlife officer for unsafe driving. Mabey he just got pulled over on the water because what he was doing was unsafe but I would assume a fish and wildlife officer can pull over any type of water craft.

In Oldham county I talked to a Game Warden that said they had to spend 27 hours a week on the water. Hopefully they are checking everybody on the river. I asked him if he wanted to see my licenses and he said "If you are offering me to check your license, you must be ok or you wouldn't offer" LOL!!!

You are right Chuck is a great guy and will do his job and will be nice about it as long as you are.

I have hunted and fished all of my life and was never checked until I got on the lakes. I have been checked 7 times so far this year 8 times if you count the twice in one day by the same officer, we both laughed about that one. I have no problem with it at all. Everytime the officers have been very polite except one, he was not rude but just unhappy. Of course I watched him give out four tickets to people in just a short while in one small area of the lake. They have a hard job and must love it to stay with it. Can you imagine how hard it is to put up with people like me all day, I WOULD GO CRAZY!!!

Last year when fishing out of Greenwood Boat Ramp on the Ohio River. There was a couple of Fish and Wildlife Officer's there every week I was there. If you asked them prior to getting on the water to give you a courtesy Check they would. If they found anything they would tell you what needed to be done to correct the problem and then after getting fully inspected and passing all. They would fill out a sticker and place it on your boat that would last for the year. It would let other Fish & Game Officers that they had inspected the boat and you passed. Helped from being checked every other day or so on the river.

So if you see an Officer you might ask for a Courtesy Check, might save you time later on down the road.

Yeah, there is a couple of them. I met a younger officer that was at Westport ramp on the Ohio on Memorial day. He seemed to be a decent guy and friendly. I think his last name was Goodlett but I can't remember his first name. He said he covered Oldham Co. primarily and was on the river ALOT! He had another officer meeting him, but I didn't get the chance to talk to him or meet him.

They just kept on searching. I was in party cove where people were yelling and drinking. I asked if they checked all of the boats that were tied together, they said I had more of a chance to be breaking the law. Go figure... Hope they were joking. They have a hard job to do and I'm just venting about one time. Keep up the good work DNR. I might need these guys one day.

Indiana DNR seem to have it in for the fisherman, specifically fisherman in bassboats, then give the recreational boaters a free ride. I've seen this time and again at Brookville. One of the times they checked me last year they came all the way to the back of the cove to check me and did not check a single boat anchored along the shoreline, fishing and not fishing but most were drinking, then checked everything on me and my boat, passengers included. I asked them if they were going to do anyting about the pleasure boaters violating the no wake zone in the back of Gar Hill Creek and they that it wasn't my business. i politely disagreed with them regarding how it erodded the shoreline in the cove and could cause my boat to be washed up on the shore. They ignored me. With no violations they left me after a half hour inspection, dingin up my boat by not having any bumpers between us and continued to check only fisherman in bass boats.

I agree they have a hard job but for them to be so hard on bass fisherman is wrong.ost of us are law abiding citizens who want them on the water checking for law breakers. But for the life of me how can the ignore the party barges full of drunks? Some one is going to die on that lake one summer day. People pull their kids on tubes behind their boats in the mid section of the lake with cigarette boats running 100+mph, I truly hope it nevers happens but it really looks like sooner or later one of those kids will get run over.

I've seen the Tennessee game wardens go right down the main lake on Barkley and Ky and stop every boat he sees. When he checked me, he asked for all safety equipment, registration and fishing license. He also checked my livewells. This has happened to me 3 times in the last year.

I have yet to see a Ky game warden on either barkley or ky lake this year.
