Wouldn't recommend anything but Nolin River Lake or Rough River Lake...Have camped at both and always have a great time at each.....

Holly Bay campground on Laurel Lake is a great place. All of the sites very clean and you have privacy. You are not ontop of one another. They have electric and bath/shower houses and their own private boat ramp. It is $20 a night. I have stayed at several campgrounds and seen others at other lakes and Holly Bay ranks in the top.

I camped at Taylorsville this weekend and personally didn't care much for it. Dale Hollow or Barren are great campgrounds as well as Green River. A nice campground that is close to Frankfort is Cummins Ferry on the Ky River. It is off 127 South Between Lawrenceburg and Harrodsburg. There is a ramp and store right at the campground and some pretty nice scenery in that part of the river. Given fuel prices as they are, it could be an option

    Re: camping

Wow the answers you could recieve on this one are unending there are so many choices. my first picks would have been any of the four full service site on Barren river lake but with low water the banks are steep and rough on the boats and legs, nad the new lake manager has changed alot of the rules about what and where the kids can play and what they can play on such as no electric scooters skate boards or riding outside of the areas that they are camped in. Not realy big into customer service I guess. Now on Nolin Dog Creek nice small camp groung on a small branch of the lake but just minute from bigger water and a nice ramp right there and a clean swimming area by the camp. Dale Hollow KY State Park or any of the TVA Camps on theTN side have sites right on the water, and the water looks like the gulf at panama city coke bottle green and clear in the morning lots of lake for winding out and having fun. Lake Cumberlands Wolf creek Dam Kendall recreation area campground very nice large campground great trout fishery fantastic wade fishing, then one of the biggest lakes even with the big draw down just begging for boats to come on down. I do not think there are any real bad choices out there so come on down and make your self at home cause we got it good down here in the heart land.
