The information about the current manager is WRONG! The whole purpose of the park is to get people to come and enjoy it. The profitability, and the numbers of people who visit go into their evaluation, so getting rid of camping and ramps would NOT do the current COE guy any good. HE IS however very much in favor of protecting the people who use COE Property from thieves and vandals.. that may be where you got the idea from. He is less interested in the rights of fishermen than he is of the people who pay his fees. I do not personally see the problem with that. That IS HIS JOB. (Please note .. when I say Fishermen in this context.. I AM NOT TALKING about REAL fishermen, but the guys who masquerade as fishermen in order to steal from ALL OF US.)
The tailwater is open to fishing. There are some barriers that show you how far up the bank you can go.. This is to protect the campers who pay to stay in the park below the dam. Property has disappeared so if that keeps happening the COE may go back to not allowing bank side fishing in the Camping area to protect the campers.. However Benjy Kinman worked very hard with the current COE manager to get this worked out. Cudo's to Mr. Kinman the director of Fisheries. I SERIOUSLY doubt that there will be any restriction on Bank Fishing at Port Oliver. That is Federal Property and Federal Property on a lake can not be marked as off limits.. NOW if there is a problem with thefts at the new ramp, I am sure that things could be changed for fishing after dark... Jim Dicken
