small plastics - i am talking about 2 in tubes on a drop shot if you can fish this way.

I have a question for you guys. I am going to fish a small lake about 100 yards wide by a half mile. It is heavily pressured (think Taylorsville Lake type pressure and add a few more people). These fish have seen the usual baits and seen them a lot. I was thinking of downsizing my presentations, but other than that I wasn't sure what to throw. If you guys had this scenerio what would you throw?

In a small area lake the bigger fish may have looked at all of the standard lures for a while. it is then time to look at the available forage for the big fish at this time frogs will be big and the big fish will eat them usually in the dark. the standard jitterbug is overlooked for the purist but works, the yum frog texas rigged with a screw in head weight fished deep on the bottom pulled like a jumping frog seems to work in a highly pressured lake.
I think I would be throwing a rooster tail. It is a very simple lure, represents a very small minnow, and a fast moving bait so the fish get a very short opportunity to see it.
I've caught a lot of big fish on that bait, yet the more I fish, it seems the less I use it.
Something to think about.

I would recommend backing off of the bank more. The pressure may be heavy on a lake, but 9 times out of 10 people are fishing too close to the bank. I fished yesterday evening on Taylorsville for the first time since last year and hooked up on some really nice fish! I was backed off of the bank a lot further than anyone else that I saw...
I throw a big ole Norman deep diving crank with a 1/4 sinker, carolina rigged. I have never got skunked with that setup.
Jack, this is Coach P.- I think I have an idea of the lake you are talking about but could be mistaken. I wont name it, but i have done good in the grass. It gets beat but I back off and work edges with 1/8 shakey and got a few short ones. Had a 3lbr Saturday across from pier in 4-6ft, I was in 10ft of water on spinnerbt wht/cht tandem willow. Not slow rollin but slight hesitations and jerks. Have done good on cranks in 4-6ft. Try to take the unbeaten path if you can, to the right of the dam. It's tough though, have been humbled many, many days but the place is underrated. WATCH THE RAMP DO NOT GO DOWN TOO FAR! Had to pull a guys truck out of the water the other day and heard that it had not been the first time. Call me and we will chat more. Saw a guy with atleast 30 palm sized redears and gills, they were in 4ft on crawlers and roadrunners.
splitshot a small 5in. fry. It'll work deep and shallow. There's no contest.
