I had a few hours this afternoon as it was slow at work. Hooked up and went to the Sulphur Well pool off KY 39 in Jessamine Co, then I went upstream several miles and fished the rock bars and walls coming back down. I caught a total of 4 (3 Largemouth, 1 KY) between 5 and 9. Two on DT10s that were '15 and '17 and two just a nose over 12 or so on a T-rigged lizard. The best action was 9-12 ft at the floor of the dropoffs toward the middle from the rock bars. I just plowed the DT10 along the bottom and had several that just hit it but didnt hook them. I slowed it down a little and caught the two bigger fish. They were schooled, you were either on them or there was nothing. Alot of surface action around the bars, but I didnt catch anything on top. Threw a tiny torpedo, a jitterbug and buzzbait, but nothing. The river is beautiful right now, very green but clear and low. I'd bet the next few days will be good fishin on the river. Watch out for stumps sticking straight up in the middle and several of the rock bars come all the way out to the channel. You could easily bust up a lower unit or get tossed in the river if you arent paying close attention. I had always heard there were some bad apples around the ramp down there, but some locals told me the sheriffs were patrolling it alot nowadays. Hope this report helps another fisherman here. I am taking the wife to Dale on the 17th and 18th, going to be needing some tips myself

Great report there Cajun...Keep up the good work and hope you catch a sack full at Dale...But that is one place I have never fished yet...... But going to change that soon.........![]()
You did better than I did.I had two ten inch Kentuckys.I didn't even think it was worth a report. But on a good note me and a buddy went to cc tuesday and he had a 4 lber,3 -2lbers,and 4 dinks.I had a 4lber taht was identical to his and ten dinks. It was a pretty good day.
Yea, Cedar is off and on like that. I have gone there and done very well, but on other days just caught short fish.
The river has not risen any yet, although going over Hickman creek, it was brown and running high. Curiously though, I fished the mouth of Silver and Paint lick creeks in Madison and Garrard Co, neither one had any significant flow coming out. I would say the river might rise a bit, but not much.
Webfoot, when and where did you go? What did you throw?
I'm not sure how much the 3 forks of the Ky got rain-wize. But if it rained hard it'll run off quick and they'll be a good slug of water coming down river slowly. Might really turn them on good.Yea, Cedar is off and on like that. I have gone there and done very well, but on other days just caught short fish.

Catfishing at the muddy creek mouths should be awesome.

Kentucky river -everything
cc-crankbait and texas rigged worm.
Sorry to interupt the bass talk, but from what I have heard there are some very nasty musky in the Ky river, Those that fish for them seem to not want to tell others. So I will ask the bass guys. Frankfort up the river is it worth to fish for the bass eaters?![]()
I don't fish for the musky but do catch 2 or 3 a year in the Lawrenceburg pool. Usualy on crankbaits around the creek mouthes or rock bars. We have had several real nice ones over the years and yes they are very mean in the river. What a thrill to see a 3 footer turning flips in mid air.
