Hey Mark, don't sweat it, just go fishing. A chip out of the skeg hurts nothing, and folks can't see it if you keep it underwater all the time.

    Re: Skegpro or other ???

I have bent my skeg twice and onemorecast just recently put a stainless skegguard on it. It looks good and the boat drives a whole lot better with a straight one compared to a bent one.

The skeggaurd that I have on, has screws that are made to break on hard impact to keep you from doing any damage to the lower unit and it comes with extra screws to keep with you just in case.

For someone with my track record, it is definately worth the money.

I was told not to do it too. The explanation was that if you hit something the skeg is made to give and reduce further damage to the lower unit... Dan

i have one on mine and it looks good and performs well,i have dug a few trenches with it and it hasn't broken.as for on your bullet i don't know what it would do to the real top end handling beacause it makes the skeg a little thicker and no gurantees it is straight so it may cause some bad handling on a light 75mph hull,my ol stratos sled still run 72 with no problems.if you have a machine shop around or someone who can weld aluminum just have them fill in the ding grind it down smooth and repaint.may need a little epoxy to fill in the spot.
