    FINALLY KBFN Qualifier Video

OK, I know you guys were waiting with baited breath..LOL..
for the video I shot at the KBFN Qualifier at Barren in June. I finally got my firewire card and downloaded the video.. WHAT a chore..
Any way I have posted 1 Weigh in and 2 interviews on the front page.
These are my first attempts so let me know what you think of the info and the interviews.. and the cutting.
Be Brutal and add any suggestions you think I need.
YES, I am a bit loud, I was not sure how good the Audio would be..
YES, there is a background sound, that is the aerator's at the tournament.
    Thanks in advance..
Fishing reports will most likely go without update for 10 days starting the 21st. I am going to the Amazon and will not have computer access until late in the trip.

Looked good to me. Any kinks you may find seems like would take care of themselves as you do more of them. Look forward to seeing more in the future. Thanks Jim D.

With IE ver 6 sp 2 I get a dead end 404 when I click the front page button. With Firefox ver 5.0 I see the verbiage for the video, but there's nothing to click.

Why are you covering the KBFN and ignoring the KBF? The KBF is larger and more impactful in Ky, and it's also the original Federation.

The KBFN is run by a good guy, and I have nothing against them personally, but I want no part of the B.A.S.S. the ESPN suits have created. They ain't done yet either.

    Re: FINALLY KBFN Qualifier Video

Yes the KBF was the name of the origanial FEDERATION and I am a member of both and I am proud to say a member of the KBFN, we are a great bunch of guys and we also have an impact in KY. The split caused a great deal of strife between some members and it was because BASS made a mistake, now that Cochran is back things should get back to normal. The BASS FEDERATION was BASS's brainchild and then the state fed's pulled out and went with FLW. We as a state have had two jr world champs one when it was the KBF and now another as the KBFN. I respect your opionion but do not knock the KBFN or any fishing org as we all have a common goal to fish.I have been a BASS member since 1975 and will be one until I die. What I am trying to say is that neither is perfect, and we have some flaws, but we have good leadership in the KBFN and open leadership and we all have input and we are trying to make us grow. We have picked up several new members this year and have had some great tourneys that have been ran very well and professional. Thanks

    Re: FINALLY KBFN Qualifier Video

I respect your opinion as well, thanks for stating it. I went out of my way not to knock anyone in Ky, it's unfortunate you took it that way. If you read what I wrote, I said I wanted nothing to do with the ESPN/BASS suits. I'm proud to say that after many years of being a BASS member, I terminated my membership and now tear up their mailers unread. My personal choice and not likely to change.

Once again I'll say it plainly, I'm not knocking the KBFN or any of it's membership, it's a good outfit run by good people. Yes they have an impact, never said they didn't, though I certainly could've made my point better. The fact is the KBF is older, larger and has more of an impact. If Jim's reporting on KBFN tournaments, he shouldn't ignore the KBF.

The state Federations didn't pull out, they were forced out by Don Rucks and crew once they figured out BASS didn't own them with free reign to dictate whatever terms they wanted. I was there, and that's how I interpreted what happened. They also fired Al Smith and anyone else with enough backbone to tell it like it is. Once again my opinions, and not likely to change.

All that said, it seems to have worked out for the best as there are now two Federations with a focus on conservation and youth involvement. Not to mention more advancement opportunities for anglers.

I hope Mr. Cochran is allowed to take care of business, and I wish the KBFN the best of luck.

    Thanks,
    Jim Richardson

I had to go to Barren and the tournament was there.. That is why I covered it. No favoritism, I just was looking for something to shoot and I had to go to Barren on Business.. so I just figured I would kill 2 birds with one stone. It was good practice.. I will gladly cover the KBF and any other tournament on Video IF I CAN FIND A SPONSOR to pay my gasoline. Otherwise coverage will be as I can do it when I can, and where I can afford to go..
    Does that answer the question?
I paid for the Camera, the Software and put in the time on this. It was so I would not go in to the trip to Canada or the Amazon this year with no experience on shooting video.
I have a customer on Barren who is starting a tackle business.. www.NancyTackle.com (Yes shameless plug) and the tournament was across the street from our meeting place.

If KBF keeps going down the road they're on, they'll wind up folding.

Once upon a time KBF was the powerful entity that Devilshorse mentioned, but not anymore. The split along with management issues have really hurt KBF.

Hey, I am learning.. LOL.. if you want something you have to ask.. my old "Grand Pappy" used to say.. Most of the guys had been holding them up.. I have some more.. but not the 2 biggest.. and I have one where the guy drops the fish 2 times.. but I just did not want to put that up. Ammunition for the aunties..

Sorry Jim, I misstook some things you said, Yes Ruckus was the straw that broke the camels back, and it hurt as I have been with BASS a long time, It upset me, as weel as some others that I did not fish any of the qualifers last year, though I did fish the KBF team circut. But the main thing I do agree with you on is that now with two federations, maybe it wiil have an impact on the conservation side as this to me is the most important thing we need to focus on so we can have fish and places to catch them in the future. We all as fisherpeople need to be concerned about the enviroment and make it known to both BASS, FLW, The FED nation, The Federation that this is our #1 priority so we can enjoy our sport in the future.

Thanks Bobby, it looks like we're both on the same sheet of music. Best of luck man.

Basswipe, I'm sorta out of touch with the KBF, wasn't aware they had mgmt issues. They've gone to a KBF members only web site and since I disagreed strongly with that strategy I don't go to it much. Every so often some anonymous hacker would make comments or accusations and get em all stirred up. Instead of being smart enough to ignore the trollers or have some fun trading flames with them, they tightened down the web site. Even more boring forum now than it already was.

Didn't fish any qualifiers this year because the championship is out of Carrollton on the mighty O, and I don't enjoy fishing there. (The river rats would say I'm just not a good enough fisherman...and they'd be right.) IMO one of the smartest things Greg'n'em has done is avoid the Ohio River with the KBFN tournaments.
