I am not a real expert but here is one possibility. With the spotty rains and storms we are getting the feeder creeks and streams are coming into the lake very muddy or stained. I know the farmers are trying to make up for lost time with the drought and alot of them are planting secondary crops right now, they are spraying and spreading alot of fertilizer into the fields. My brother in law and I went and tryed a few honey holes on beaver creek and on skaggs well above the lake in the past few days, normally we can pick up a few keepers by wading and fishing the eddys in the deeper holes but the fish are not moving hardly at all even the bluegill are slugish we did catch a five pound carp and for a few minutes we thought we had a trophy, with no disrespect to the carp they are great fighters. I think the water temps being high and the color of the water along with the change in flow patterns on the lake has got to play a big part of the slow down. Most of the rock ledges on creek channels that we fish at night still do not have water on them, and there alot of the small springs that are now intermitent where they used to supply cool fresh water to the flats. But like I said I am just guessing Barren is like your wife some days she is hot and ready and the next look out your in the dog house and you don't even own a dog.
