    Wondering about Cumberland Accident.

Maybe I missed it, but was the gentlemen in the bass boat accident that happened at Cumberland a couple weeks back found? I don't know why, but for some reason the thought haunts me and just hoped his family might have closure by now. Does anybody have updates on the cause?

I was listening to the radio this morning on the way to work and they gave the news about a recent drowning victim being recovered. I dont remember what day they found him but I think it was over the weekend. I am sure that is the same person you are talking about. The news reported that several agncies were trying to locate him and the Boone County Rescue and Recovery Team foud his body with sonar subrmeged in 60 feet of water.

Try our local radio station web address for a news report you might find something there.

    WJRS-104.9, Jamestown, July 16 07...

The body of a Russell Springs man, missing since a boat wreck two weeks ago on Lake Cumberland, was recovered late Sunday afternoon. 36-year-old Mark Sayers was retrieved by divers after a "side scan sonar unit" detected what was believed to be Sayers' body in approximately 60' of water in Wolf Creek, according to Russell County Emergency Management Director H. M. Bottom.

Sayers had been missing, and was presumed to have drowned, after his boat collided with another about 10:15 p.m. on Saturday, June 30th.

Members of the Russell County Rescue Squad, with assistance from several other rescue squads, had conducted search and dragging operations for Sayers' body daily since the accident. According to EM Director Bottom, it was Boone County's Search & Rescue Team's "side scan sonar unit" that ultimately located Sayers' body for divers to recover.

Russell County Coroner Larry Skaggs has taken the body for an autopsy which will be performed today at the state medical examiner's office in Frankfort.
