You get the information (data) on a CD. The CD comes with a working copy of Ozi Explorer for your desktop computer.

I would recommend that you get a gps of some kind if you want to take full advantage of these maps. They are sort of overkill if you don't have gps and not very helpful without the gps.

I am not sure but I think that you can print copies of the Kentucky Hydrografx maps using Ozi Explorer, your computer and your printer. But I would recommend that you email Pat Hahs and ask him about this to find out for sure.

Pat is pretty good about emailing back to his potential customers.

I know of some guys that have the Kentucky Hydrografx maps and use them on KY lake in the Big Sandy Area. One guy uses his laptop computer or his HP IPAQ Mobile Media Companian with Windows Mobile Software. He has everthing connected via bluetooth radio. He used a Garmin G10 receiver that connects to his HP IPAC or his lap Top computer via the bluetooth connections.

He can display his boats position on his computer screen right on top of the Topo maps which are also imposed on the sidescanning data screen.

He can mark a spot on the maps using his computer and then use the gps device to go right to that spot. The GPS unit will tell him which direction to head and how far away the waypoint (spot on the lake) is from his current position.

He can use track up on his gps and the map view and see where he is located on the lake and the spot where he wants to go fish. All he has to do is move his boat so that the icon that represents his boat on the gps map view moves to the icon that represents his waypoint on the lake. Once the boat's icon is righ over the waypoint icon he can then use his depth finder to look for the structure on the lake bottom. He also have a Humminbird Side scanning sonar unit that allows him to look out both sides of is boat for about 70 ft in each direction. The sidescanning sonar units can be purchased with a built in gps unit for around 1 thousand dollars for the smaller humminbird units and 2000 dollars for the larger 997 unit.

If I had a lot of extra money I would have one of these humminbird sidescanning units and the electronic equipment that this guy uses. BTW this guy also made his own submergable diving device that has portable control and video cameras on the thing. LOL So he can take this device and actually send it down to the lake bottom and video tape what it sees down there. He likes to play with electronic gadgets.
