I went out for my early morning run last week, and as I was runing down the street, I saw two nice spinning rods and a small tackle box leaning up against a trash container on the sidewalk. In my neighborhood you just never know what you may fine in trash on any given trash day. I saw a gentleman standing just down a ways on the sidewalk so I ask him if someone was throwing fishing equipment away. As he turned, I recognized the smiling face as Carl Hurley, the KET comedian and story teller. He looked at me with a smile and said..."No, but shortly before you got here a car came up the street and almost burned the tires off trying to stop so he could pick up the rods." We laughed and then he added..."My wife told me this morning not to lean my rods on the trash container because someone would get them in a heart beat." And if you know anything about the "trash searchers" here in Lexington, you know how true that is. He informed me he was waiting for a friend to pick him up, and they were going to a private lake in northern KY to fish for the day. It was good to see Carl in his fishing cloths, and if he can catch fish like he tells a story, he surely had a great day.
