I need your help!! Can anyone tell me where I can buy live craws in the spring and fall. Maybe they could be shipped. Thanks for any help you can give.

I don't know about buying them but when I was growing up dad and I used to fish them pretty regularly and we would sein them from the creeks. Many creeks are pretty loaded with them and it is pretty easy to get them.

Dont know where you are located but you might want to give Pepper Tackle on Dixie Highway. Its about 1 mile south of the Dixie Highway/Gene Schnider Freeway Intersect. They cary a wide array of live baits.
Keep on chuckin'
You can catch them with a cheapo minnow trap and whatever leftovers you have from dinerJust lay the trap on the bottom in a rocky area, overnight is best. They will swim up to the trap if it is close to the bottom. Had some Canadian craws take over my minnow trap in Lake of the Woods, so we used 'em- smally loved em.
Thanks guys, I fish Ky.Lake and have used craws in the same place for over 40 yrs. I sure would hate to have to give it up. If anyone else has any suggestions please respond. Thanks again.
We used to fish for them as kids. Put a piece of meat or even catch a small frog and step on it. Then drop it down close to the crawdad and once the crawdad has a hold of the bait, just lift it out of the water and drop into a pale or bucket. You can catch twenty to thirty of them in about 10 minutes. Sometimes even let the bait sit in a spot for a couple extra seconds and you'll get more than one. We never bought any live bait, especially crawdads.![]()
I seine most of my craws. Just find a creek with some current and use the poles on the seine to probe around rocks and ledges to run them out of hiding. If you want to buy instead...http://www.crawdads.net/prices/#Crawfish
Thing is it might be easy for young guys or girls to catch their own. But some older fishermen/women or the same might have a physical ailment keeping them from catching their own. We as fishermen / women have to think of all the levels of people that are fishing and not just the able bodied ones at that........![]()
Your exactly right MsgMills. That' s my problem. I have Parkinsons and also neuropathy in my feet. Can't get around like I used to, thus the thread about buying craws. Thanks for being so understanding.
