You might call the "Evansville Worm Ranch". It's located at 7349 Old Boonville Highway in Vanderburgh County, Indiana.

Their phone number is (812) 477-4534

Ask for Bill or Matt. I was there a couple of weeks ago and Matt said that he had someone seine some crayfish and gave them to Matt to sell.

They looked like a medium sized crayfish. About 2" long. I have seen them in the wild much larger.

Small Mouth Bass will eat these 2" crayfish up.

Not sure if he will have any in the fall or spring though. You may have to go down south to Louisiana or Mississippi to find crayfish at that time of the year.

Gander Mountain has craws. Some are pretty big though.

Thanks for the info Topwater 2007. Are you speaking of the Gander Mt. in Paducah? The size craws that I like to use is about 3". Are the larger than that? Kentucks and Smallies really do like them. One yr. we caught so many blue cats it's hard to believe.

No, I live in Terre Haute.

I just assumed that all Gander's had one. Terre Haute's Gander isn't very big, so I would think they all have at least as much as Terre Haute.

    Talking Re: Live craws

Topwater, I went to Indiana State for my undergrad and graduate work. I haven't been back but one time since 1967. Does Commercial Solvents still stink on the southside??? A dear friend and former boss is the basketball coach at North. Jim Jones---haven't seen or talked to him in yrs. I used to catch some really nice fish in the pits around T.H. especially south toward Sullivan. Thanks again for your info.

Try your local private fish hatcheries. I've bought them there and they're the most reasonable.

Thanks, can you give me the location of some of these hatcheries. I live in Ky. and don't know of any. I would be willing to drive a reasonable distance.

    Gar,

Commercial Solvents went out of business in the late 1970's. Last company there wast Pittman Moore, and they closed up in late 1980's.

It was and still is the paper plant that stinks, all the other plants just got the bad rap for being in the same area.

International Paper was the last company to operate down there, they will be closing up shop soon.

No jobs in Terre Haute, I am just trying to hang on until I die here. Too old to move on to another place, I will finish out my life here.

Thanks for the info on Terre Haute. I didn't know until now that it was a paper plant that was responsible for that smell. I thought they produced solvents and other chemicals. I'm trying to do the same thing here in Owensboro but as long as I can wet a line now and then and have the good friends that I have it could be a whole lot worse.
