I use the verison service and have had good luck with getting good connections up at Patoka Lake in INDIANA. I have not used it anywhere else except around my home town of Evansville, IN. About the only time I loose my signal is when I go inside a big building that's concrete and steel.
If outside I always seem to have 4 out of 4 bars.
I just bought on the the Pay as You Go phones. I buy about $30 worth of time each month. So I have a cell phone in case of emergency.
Many of the phone contracts have tricks that make you pay extra is you stop the service too soon. You may have a contract and if you call and ask a question they can say that you have a new contract.
Congress is starting to look into the Cell Phone companies for these shady practices.
So be careful who you sign a contract with and remember that you can change your contract just by you talking to them on the phone. That's the shady part I read about. So be very careful. Some people switched to another cell phone company the last month of their contract only to find out that they owed the old cell phone company a huge fee for early termination. Some ended up getting billed hundreds of extra fines.
I was not going to sign any contracts that bound me to one company for 2 years. Ans if you break the contract (new one or old one) they can make you pay more for the phone they gave to you with the contract. Those phones are offered at a much reduced price if you sign a contract but if they claim you broke the contract they can make you pay the full retail price of the phone.
Just read the fine print and know what you are getting into. And beware that if you call and ask for help or customer service they may claim that you have just verbally authorized them to start a new deal or contract with you. This is why Congress is getting a lot of public complains.
Some cell phone companies have canceled some people's service saying that they called customer service too much. Now that's just plain wrong
I hate companies that do shady business like that.
