    Silver Buddy

Just wondering how many out there still use these lures, and what is your opinion on them. Does anyone know where a person could find these one of a kind baits. I understand that they went out of buisness.

I've heard that but I still see them at a few bait stores. Wally world has had them and I think there is a guy on ebay selling some pretty good knock-offs.

Silver Buddy is the greatest cold water bait I have ever used! I've caught more smallies than one can count out of fridgid water. I still have a dozen or so left. I think I'll put more insurance on them!!

Great lures. Can be fished numerous ways in numerous situations. The only thing I do is change the split hooks out and added split rings. Haven't bought any in a few years and the old ones, the eyes of the trebles would open up and lost a few fish on them, but the split rings and new hooks solved that.

Kendall Banks Jr. died a few months ago. The company has not shipped lures in over 2 years as I understand it. I do have a few left myself and like the above fisherman I like to switch out the hooks and use O rings with trebles..
The company was for sale for a while.. if anyone is interested you would have to contact Kendall's father since he owns the name. The bait was an improved version of the Sonar. Several folks are planning on making similar baits.

Afew months ago the website came back up. I called them and they said they would ship orders to individuals but had no plans to go back into stores at that time. I've tried the knockoffs, but none have the same action or success as the silver buddy. I throw it alot on Cumberland between Nov. and March. Best bait for smallies and kentucks during that time.

Yes, Kendall passed away in May so I am not sure what is going on with the company. Fischers Sporting Goods in Shepherdsville has several of the 1/4 ounce Silver Buddy's in both silver and gold. I think these lures are head and shoulders above any other blade bait made.

    Re: Silver Buddy

Kendall Jr. did pass away a few months ago. His dad, Sr. had started Silver Buddy and had sold part interest in the company to Jr. a few years ago and Jr. had been running the company since. Jr. had a few problems and the company had not been thriving as well as in the past. The company is right now in the court system for Jr's wife says she owns the company but Sr. says it is his company. My bet is that Sr. will end up with it eventually. The patten is no longer in effect on the bait so anyone can make them. 1/2 oz Silver is my favorite when I fish them and have a bunch in the box that probably have increased in value.

Barlows sales the molds to make the silver buddys. They call it the vibrating lure. Backwaters sell the same lure, they have a guy that makes them. As many as i lose I've thought about buying the mold myself.

You might try cutting off the front barb of the front treble hook. I do this and to me it does not seem to hang as much. Just a suggestion
