    Re: Taylorsville Lake

The wife and I went there last weekend with the rule of "no bass fishing" tackle. We threw rooster tails, roadrunners and Norman crappie crankbaits and wore the fish out. Nothing spectacular in size but we caught bluegills, white bass and large mouths. I started at the point straight out from the state dock and went right up the main lake. If you want the kids to have fun, this is the way to go.Good Luck!!!

That koolaid soaked chicken pieces is no joke that's an old trick that's been around along time. I know it sounds wierd but it works, LOL.

Hey guys your ideas on the dead sea seemed to work pretty good Saturday; didnt do the catfish thing with the kool aid (sorry new boat) but I had one son with a white roostertail wearing the fish out and the youngest son standing by me with nightcrawler under a bobber wearing them out too. Nothing to brag about for the size of the fish except for my youngest son catching a 3lb drum on an ultra-light that was fun to watch. We couldnt buy a bite in the creeks we had to stay out on the main lake banks to catch fish. Thanks again

This is going to sound like a fish story, but one friday morning, right as a storm front was moving in, my dad and I caught over 100 hybrid striped bass on rooster tails. The bass were in an absolute feeding frenzy, demolishing schools of tiny shad. They were literally biting on every single cast.

Theres one part of the lake where for some reason, the shad congregate in massive schools. Thats the part where I usually fish at, catch alot of hybrids, largemouth bass, bluegill, and blue catfish there.

    Re: Taylorsville Lake

I can attest to the Rooster Tails working. My oldest son (11 yrs old) and I fished one of the TNT Tuesday night Bass Tournaments last year. We got to an area and around 8:45 pm and my son caught 9 White Bass & about 4 or 5 small Stripers on a small Chartreuse Rooster tail about 1/16 oz in size.

Sad part about it was we kept 5 of the White Bass, as I was getting the truck , my son was waiting in the boat. All the other fishermen who were fishing the tournament were talking about how many fish they had caught. The most anyone said they had was 3 fish to weigh in. My son got all excited and was grinning from ear to ear as I backed up my truck to load the boat. After loading the boat, we got back into the truck to go park and my son wanted to give me a high five for our catch. I said we done OK and that we needed to go see how many fish had been caught and who won the tournament. Bless my son's heart, cause he said, well heck dad "We Won" we got 5 fish and the most anyone has to weigh in was 3 fish. Well it just broke my heart to have to tell him that our fish don't count towards the tournament, since they are a different species and not regular Large mouth Bass.... I could then see his disappointment in not winning, but he said he had a great time and then started telling me how he was catching all those fish on that rooster tail.

Glad you were able to catch some fish. When taking children it is important to catch something to keep them interested!!!
