To make a long story short, attempted to put in at Cumberland Point Rec Area but there is no civilization for miles and miles around this ramp. Ended up staying in Monticello and put in at Conley Bottom. Fished 2 long nights in White Oak and Faubush plus other places for not one single Smallie. Caught a couple of greenfish and spots but that was it. Bite was horrible, motel was horrible but it was the only thing around that was not filled up with yard sellers. Cranking battery went dead the first day so I spent $89 for another out of Conley Bottom marina, on board charger quit working the next morning so it was more bucks buying a new one of those as well. Third night drove to Dale Hollow and put in at Wisdom, went to my favorite deep flat area and caught 7 smallies all over 3 with the biggest being 5-4. Drove home Saturday morning kicking myself for not spending the first 2 nights at Dale as well. I started fishing Cumberland for Smallies in 2003 and found Dale Hollow in 2004 and swore then to never wet a line in Cumberland for Smallies again. I got skunked at Dale the last 2 nights I fished it a few weeks back and try Cumberland again LIKE AN IDIOT. I will say it again, I will never wet a line in Cumberland for Smallies again. Thought I would fish a new part of Cumberland since it was closer, WHAT AN IDIOT I AM. What is a few more miles on the Explorer tugging the boat to Burkesville to stay where I normally do when every cast at Dale could be a 5 pounder. I won't make that mistake again (at least I hope not).

Now now, Elwood there are still some good brownies in the big C I've caught my share of them this year early. My favorite months on Cumberland are January, Feb, March, April, May, STOP. Then November and December, as far as I'm concerned everything in between those stinks. Cumberland SO needs to put the slot on like Dale did and the fishery would take off like a bottle rocket. But the KDFWR panders to the tournaments and have no balls therefore they won't do it. Sorry for your bad trip but hey you rebounded well at the hollar.

    You whine like a mule...LOL!!!!!

I'm 90 percent moved, all my boats, floats, fishing gear ect is in Gtown. When it cools off and the creeks fill back up, we'll start practicing for this winter real close to our houses....
Yell at me this weekend and I'll go show you some things.

90 percent moved, hell you have been moving for 3 months now, just how much fishing gear does one man have that he has been moving it for 3 months and still is not MOVED. Looking forward to some of this local creek fishing to see what it is all about. Don't see me wading them in January like I know you do for it will be all about Dale Hollow (and a bit of Laurel) for me once the FNF season arrives upon us

Plenty of good smallies in Cumberland there Elnut. Not as many as Dale but they are there. It can get difficult down there at times for sure. Been there done that. However, there are times when I would put it up against anything you can catch on Dale. For example, in one trip me and a buddy of mine had 9 keeper smallies with two over 6lbs, several 5+'s and 4's. Very few of them less than 4lbs. I would say the best 6 went close to 30lbs. Not too bad IMO. I wouldn't give up on the Big C yet. Now is a tough time so maybe give her another chance some other time. Is it challenging? Most certainly it is.... that is why we call it fishing. I got a feeling you will be back down there again sometime, just to prove it to yourself you can do it. Who knows maybe this winter! Good luck!

Now that's a serious bag there, that might even make ole Flippindrew jealous. My personal best five to date there was in the slightly over 20lb range and I've had alot of day's with several 4 plus fish involved. There are some pigs in that lake for sure.

I guess for me it don't really count unless you do it in a tournament though. Just practice! Figures! LOL!
