    Area Lakes Surface Water Temp

Just curious about the area lakes surface water temp. Does anyone have any recent surface temps for lakes in Kentucky? This past week has been one of the hottest that I can remember. Three days above 100 and the rest within three or four degrees of 100. Just wondering what kind of water temps are being recorded around the state. I wonder what water temp various species start to gert really stressed due to the heat. Thanks!!

    Hey mhall,

You can. All you have to do is right click on his avatar, and choose save picture. Pay attention to where you save the picture, or make sure you choose to save it where you can find it later. Then go there and open it. If you have Windows, just double click on the file and it will open in a viewer, then you just click on the magnifing glass and inlarge to your content. Now the draw back. In order to make the avatars load quickly enough the avatars are saved as a small file, so as you enlarge it, it gets very grainy. This is fixable if you have good photo editing software. What you need to do is open it with the better software, then use the software to make the picture size bigger. This will use a process known as interulation, if spelled correctly, to fill in the gaps with the correct colored pixels, and you will get a clear picture.

    Good luck mr. hall.

The lake temps at the Dam are available through links on Fishin.com for all COE lakes I believe, in Kentucky other than Cumberland which is in the Nashville District which does not report like the Louisville District.
Most of the lakes are around 88 which is high, but I seem to remember a few years back temps hitting 90 in a few lakes.
Right now I am hearing that bass are SHALLOW in 2 foot of water or less during the early day. Most likely due to their enhanced metabolism due to the high temps. They are feeding heavily to keep up with the drain on their systems caused by the heat. Just my guess but Barren, Rough and Nolin are reporting good surface and shallow activity early in the AM.
The temp links say Water Temp and Oxygen Level.. and will give temps down to the deepest part of the lake..
