I hear that most people don't like the titanium recoil guides on the GLX and Mossyback rods, even though how much lighter it is. Haven't used or felt them, just the opinions i get from the people i talk to. I also heard from the rep that the guides will not break but the pressure put on the blank when the guides are bent will sometimes break the rod. Please post your opinion on these guides on these model rods. thank you.

It is good to see some people can still take care of a desent rod. that price range of shimanos are pretty good rods and with the correct care and use will preform excellent. i do see a lot of the Clarus models come back in for the unmatched shimano warranty service. Some people are just real hard on their rods.

$40 range is that a convergence? not a huge fan, even though some models feel pretty good, simply for the fact that it only has a few year warranty and if you pay 10-20 more dollars you can get a clarus with a lifetime warranty.

Any body have an opinion on the Loomis recoil guides?

Life time warranty on Loomis rods----- life time on shimano Cruical (over the counter). I use a Heavy action action Crucial for flipping thick cover and Crucial spinning rods. But my favorite casting rods are the Basspro shop Extreme for 99.00, 69.00 on sell sometimes. Only bad thing about Basspro rods are a one year warranty but I have been fishing them for about 6 years now and have never had a problem with them.

I love them, no problems to speak of so far. They're awesome on the spinning rod glx also. Just had to replace three regular guides on loomis cranck bait rod because they were grooved really bad from the line. I would like to try the metal guides on a cbr series just to cut down on line grooves.

On all shimano rods Clarus and up there is the same over the counter lifetime warranty. THE absolute best warranty out there, you only have to pay $10 for the store to ship it back and you leave with a brand new rod.

Most of my rods are the BPS Bionic Blade, it is an ok rod, i got a lot of Bps combos- starting out its a less expensive way to go, but have had quit a few break on me (Mostly my fault, some not) But am looking for nicer rods, i use a GL2 as my light creek rod and it is incredible. Just wanted to see what everyone thought about those guides since i was hearing mixed reviews, thanks for your input bandit.

Only the GLX version of the Jig and Worm has the titanium guides; not the Mossyback. I have a spinning and baitcasting version of the GLX Jig n Worms. Other rods I own incluce some Crucials, Kistler LTA, Powell, BassProShops Qualifier, St. Croix Legend Elite and Airrus product.

I believe the titanium guides contributed to increased sensitivity on the Jig and worm series. For plastics fishing, nothing I have ever owned or tried is as good as the Jig and Worm series; including my buddies $500 per rod Megabass product.

The negative to these guides is that they make noise; especially with Braid. On the spinning rod BSR852 I own, the braid is quieter then stiff mono or FC on the cast but noisey when you hook up with a fish. In the baitcaster, braid is noisy in both directions. If the noise does not bother you, then these are great guides.

I would not elect to put these guides on my moving bait rods but on worm/jig rods given the benefits, I think they are great.

p.s. I'm not poor but I still could not justify $350 prices for Gloomis rods. I have bought all of mine via ebay and the most I've paid delivered for any of the rods is $255. Still not cheap and I won't say they are a better value then a Crucial for example. But if you have the money and you want the best jig rod you can get, I'd suggest you at least try one.

I've have a few of GLXs and I've had them goving up on about 2 years and old had to replace one of them, and that was my fault, otherwise thier light rods you can step on the eyes and since they dont have an insert in them they won't break and you cant beat that.

on the recoil eyes, the weight of all of recoil guides equal what one regular guide weighs. The only drawback IMO is the looks of them, they are ugly.
