I still like the ol' reliable hair jig and a 1/2 oz gold silver buddy in the Winter.
I have been float & fly fishin and did catch a 4 lber. On a hair jig not a F & F. I will still work the F&F this Winter though. I think the weather was too mild last winter.
All I need for winter fishing is my (badluck) mad bomber hat and Andrew!
A filled hot thermos makes for a good fishin' buddy also!!!
I fish year round for the big cats, and most of my fishing is done during the winter months. I guide a lot of folks and I cant take a chance on letting someone get wet or cold. All the above items are great but I would like to add 2 more. I have a marine band radio on my boat. If the cell phone gets wet or you dont have coverage you can talk to a barge capt or someone on the radio and get help there. Also if you can get ahold of a railroad flare, put it on the boat. If someone falls in the cold water, a 15 min boat ride could be too long. That flare will burn at a 2000 degrees ( DO NOT LIGHT IT IN THE BOAT <GRIN>). but it will sure dry you out on solid ground..my two cents worth..warren
for fnf, fish slow, keep your knot on top, watch your bobber
