    Alasaka Fishing Trip

I've been saving up for a couple years now (had a minor financial setback) and I'm looking to take a 2 week trip to Alaska next summer.
DCan anybody make recommendations as far as Lodging,Guides, and area to go? Might consider other activities as well while there,I'm taking the wife and 2 kids also.
    Thanks Ahead of time,
    Glenn P.

Down in the SouthEast Alaska Inner passage the salmon run in mid-late July. Of course the different species go at different times. Further north, might be totally different.
I can't recommend any guides because I just visit my brother who lives there.
You might need to decide whether you are wanting to be near the coast or inland, the state is huge and offers so many varieties of adventure and beauty. Good Luck.

    Hey kyfanatic,

Check out the thread "Solution for the Heat" or something very similar that was started by fishbum aka JimD. He has some opportunities in that thread that may help you out some.

    Good luck,

    Danny

When do you want to go? I have a lodge up in Alaska that charges LOW rates and has guided trips on the Kenai. The Kenai has the best King Salmon run in the world with fish to 97 pounds caught.. That is the world record for a King Salmon. I am organizing 2 trips.. when I get back from Alaska this coming week. The lodge basically is free.. the guided trips are the cost.
3 guided trips is $795, 5 guided trips are $995.00 and includes your lodging. This is through Funny Moose Lodge in Alaska. I am not sure of his policy on people who may not fish.. but I am sure you could talk to him about it and he would work with you. He is very much into keeping the cost down for the people who come. I can help you with Priceline.com and other CHEAP airfare options online if you want to get the tickets. I looked earlier this year and tickets were around $600 round trip to Alaska from Louisville. Then you rent a car and drive from Anchorage to Soldotna about 2.5 hours. (I can help you with Priceline on that too) the drive is through 2 National Wildlife areas, and I will have some video of that this week when I get back hopefully.
You can reach me at 502-636-1305
I am organizing 2 trips to Alaska .. one for King Salmon in June and one in August during the HEAT WAVE for Silver Salmon run. The trip includes one day Halibut Fishing.. The lodge will Overnite your fish you catch to you at the end of the trip. There is a cost, but if you figure you can send close to 50 pounds of Salmon or Halibut in one box, the cost is not bad.. and you will have fish and memories to last a long time.

PS. this is not a Luxury Hotel. Just the Basics... No AC, the temps stay in the high 50's to mid 70's with an occasional 80 during the day. The cabins have cooking and beds and the linens and stuff are provided. YOU pay for your car, and your food.
I will have more details when I get back on the 28th.. OR I may update you while I am up there.. since I am taking my laptop and camera's. Car is around $250 for a week plus gas. Cars can be shared with others in the group but I am sure you will want ONE for your family.

Right now 4 tickets are $758 per person, but I think I can get cheaper prices if I bid lower for you.. But to do that I have to PURCHASE if they accept the bid.. so let me know if that is low enough or if you want to bid lower.
If so we can do it on the phone and I will help you with getting lower airfare.

Jim,I'm definately interested although I may change plans and only me and the wife go, I remember the FunnyMoose website from a few years ago, there used to be a link from Fishin.com if I'm not mistaken.

I would love to see video if you bring some back, also have a few questions,I guess I need to book air now? Does the June trip include a day of Halibut fishing? How long is your organized trip for a week, two?

    My email is [email protected]
I'll keep your phone number and stay in touch.
    Thanks,
    Glenn P.

Glenn did you call me tonite?
I apologize I got busy with an issue and got stuck on the phone..
    To answer your question:
You can stay as long as you like, but the prices are for a week and for the trips outlined. As far as I know and I will know more in a couple of days the trips include One Halibut Fishing trip at least if not 2 if you take the 5 Trip deal. Yes that site was on Fishin.com and is currently on the Front Page of www.1fghp.com top right corner. Let me make sure of the dates BEFORE YOU attempt to book air. I may be able to get it for you cheap if we go through Priceline. I will have all of this firmed up by the end of next week.
