I have managed a few keepers, but nothing great, YET!

Another Question, do any of you have better results on the smaller sizes or do most use the 115 model.

    Thanks
i fish a small size, probably not in most stores. Mainly i fish smaller baits, but the action of my small one is awesome. i think that the action of a larger one would be incredible and something that larger fish simply wouldn't be able to resist. But that is pure speculation and here-say. Because of the waters, and tackle that i use, small is good for me.

I feel that it is also important to state AGAIN that the Sammy took a Zara Puppy 10- 0, at the same place at the same time, just for the doubters. Also i got mine out of the trees just as many times as he did, but probably had less of a heart attack than him.

Bleeding Chart Shad, just got some Lemon Ghost and have had a bit of luck with them.

The sammy was my first LC lure. In the last 18 months, I have caught more fish on the Sammy 85 then I have caught on Zaraspooks in my entire lifetime and by a big margin. I have never lost a Sammy so these make pretty safe lures to start with.

I've also gotten into Pointer 78's and 100's. The 78 is a fish catching machine if you get into them just right. I owe my best morning of bassfishing to the 78 on the morning we had the huge cold front come in last spring (the one that killed all the trees). I will never forget it!

I've had more luck with Daiwa lipless cranks then the LC versions thus far so for me they would not be worth the $15 per bait.

I like the 100 size the best. I also have a 78 which works OK but it doesn't walk as fluidly as the 100. The 78 wants to jump around some where the 100 walks perfectly. I purchased a 65 but I couldn't get it to walk much at all -- even on 4 lb test. I haven't tried the 115 but I bet it would work well like the 100s.

Sammy...Tenn. shad color, is my choice. But I find that sammys are only good for clear water, like Dale Hallow, when it's cold...for big smallies!!!...But when you have stained water, like on the river...go to the buzz bait..or a splash-it! I'll never forget, when I won the 50 grand, in the big bass tournament; I had a sammy tied on. But when my partner Kevin had two huge blow-ups on his buzz bait...but they missed the hook, ....and I had zero strikes on my sammy...with about 15 casts, after Kevin's second blow-up..I got a good look at the smallie that missed his buzz bait...it was a trophy, right by the boat!! I immediatly dropped to my knees, bit off my sammy...tied on a buzz bait, slid on my Gary Yomamoto grub...and a trailer hook. Water was coffee color...current rolling...my first cast landed a 2.5 large mouth...my 4 cast caught a 5 pound smallmouth...Go figure. It was a 50 grand decisison to go with the buzz bait ...vs the Sammy. Im so glad I did..gee wizz what a move...could have wrote it up better!

Does the weighted tail on the Sammy's improve the performance other than casting? I fish the Sammy's often, when fish are really active on the top. However, on slower days (still getting blow-up's but no takers) I like the the still action of the Zara Spook a little better. They will float level on the pause, where the Sammy will float vertically.

APB is a moderator on this site. He really doesn't sell baits to the general public. He basically does it for a hobby and personal enjoyment.

Yes ghost peral lemon works great on Ky lake. I have somewhere between 75-100 Lucky Crafts. Other than staysees and pointers I can say, (and I use them) I do not beleive they catch anymore fish then Bandits, or any other hardbait.
They do however catch US the anglers that have got to have that MAGIC new bait.
I have learned to live by AL Linders saying: The wrong bait in the right place is better then the right bait in the wrong place.

Say What!!!!! 75-100 Lucky Craft baits....People like you keep paying $ 15.00 a piece for them, no wonder they never drop in price...... I have a couple of sammy's and a few pointers, but I traded stuff to get the pointers I have. But I can honestly say the first time I used a sammy I caught a 3lb bass on it.

I have to admit that most of mine came from the pre-LC hot days. And most came from Japan via e-bay. At one time you could get some really good deals from Japan on e-bay. Also there were many Japan colors only available on e-bay. Still your correct, I have spent way too much on these baits.
I have some friends with just as many, not sure if they use theirs as much as I use mine.

    Re: Sammy Colors?

i just find it hard to believe that a mass produced lure should even cost half that.i can see the balsa baits bagleys puts outor others, but injection molding isn't that expensive.i can look in rod locker and find 14 gloomis rods with johnny morris reels,i just look at the owner and ask if he is sick.i figure with a boat full of lucky crafts and g loomis the fish should just surrender, plus the triton tr21,but wait a minute...they have no clue what he his using....
guess i'll stick with river runts, cedar stumps, and a bayou boogies...
not knocking anyone or trying to argue but i just get amazed at what we think we need to catch a fish..

    Re: Sammy Colors?

As you could read in an earlier post i seemed to think that a Zara Puppy in the same situations would produce the same as a similar color and size Sammy... My partner and i tried it out on the creek yesturday and the results...

After i had already caught 10 on the topwater including a real nice 15.5", my partner tied his Zara puppy on, we would cast into just about the same spot and walk the dog all they way back, these baits within a couple feet of eachother just heading back our way. I then caught about 10 more to his 0. They wouldn't even hit the puppy, except one big blow up right off a big boulder.

I can't really explain it, they both looked good, but the Sammy just did the trick, and right next to eachother in the water the sammy took the Puppy 10- 0 on a SLOW day.
