    Ohio River Conditions?

I looked at the forecast for the river and it shows it has come up 5-7 foot in places. How is the water color and is there very much debris in the river? I was hoping to fish Cannelton this weekend and wonder what it will be like then.

I'll be fishing Mcalpine at the falls tomorrow hopefully catch it cresting at 18.4 at the lower gauge...I'm excited because I haven't had this much water in a while. I'll let you know the conditions tomorrow night which will be heading your way ...Chuck

    Re: Ohio River Conditions?

First time posting. Been reading for a couple of years but never posted. I was also thinking about going to Cannelton today but the water is still on the rise, so I'll look again tomorrow to see if its leveled out. I looked at the levels up river and its starting to drop pretty quick so maybe tomorrow. Do you ever do any good up there? I try to go just about every weekend. They were biting good in early summer but they slacked off for awhile, was biting pretty good this last weekend. If you can catch skipjack you can catch good blues. Its not any problem catching skipjack right now, even a 5 year old could catch them now.

Well guy's, the water is streaky with green and brown...The fish are moving chasing the little shad. Iwas throwing my net getting 4 ,5,inch shad they are everywhere brought some frozen skipps about 15inch and got fish almost as soon as I threw out.All blues nothing over 30# but alot of them, most 10-15#. I was threading 7 or 8 shad on a 10/0 trueturn saltwater hook and cuttin there tails off.Worked well untill I heard a siren could not tell if was at the upper dam or lower....deaf in one ear can't hear out the other...and every thing got slow....18.9 this mornin at the lower gauge now 18.1....I think you guy's down at Cannilton can get some biggin's this weekend...fresh bait is the ticket....Good luck and let me know what you do!!! Chuck
