Jim,
Do they still catch those huge Halibut up there? Seems like i have seen fishing shows that showed several hundred pounders. Is it over fishing? Did you eat any Halibut? Just Curious.

Some halibut fishing from Alaska.. Yeah I am in it, but luckily I found a camera man with some taste who got some extra talent into the picture, that was much better looking than me.
Allison is a 17 year old Basketball Player from Homer Alaska. She works the boat to help her upper body strength for Basketball.. IF she can play like she wields a knife while cleaning fish, she is one HECK of a ball player.
Check out the Halibut Action and I will try to get you some of the Salmon Action later.

At Homer they have a Derby each month.. The heaviest fish each month was over 300 pounds. .but this year the Captains said the fish were smaller than usual.. No idea if over fished or just a slow year due to the high tides. The Cook Inlet has the second highest tides in the world.. UP TO 41 feet with an average of 25 feet per day.. The best days are usually the five each month when the tide is smallest. The Big fish come in then because they do not have to fight the current. IN answer to your question.. YES they do.
