Look up GUNSAMERICA.COM, and you may be able to get a good price range on what you're looking for. Winchester prices are on the rise, even the USFA models. Look at a Marlin 336, great rifle for the money. Can pick up new under 400.00.

I prefer Winchester, and know I'll have to get a used one at this point. Has to be in pretty good shape.
I would consider a 45 cal. Lever action.
Thanks,
Danny

Thanks Cobra, I'll take a look right now. There is a great gunshop near here, with over 6,000 weapons. I've spoken with them, and they have what I am looking for, just not Winchester. I've a 1976 Win. 30-30, wonderful shooting gun. That is the reason I'm kind of trying to stay with Winchester. I hate that they closed their factory and quit manufacturing their rifles.
Thanks again,
Danny
Hey Cobra,
Have you purchased from these guys before? The reason I ask is that I have found exactly what I want, but it is in Iowa, and expensive, and I'm not used to spending that kind of money without getting to handle the item to make sure it is up to snuff, if you know what I mean.
I really appreciate the site. I came across some Puma rifles by Rossi, I believe, that also meet my parameters. I've heard Rossi was a good brand. I am finding out that I know very little about guns. I thought I was fairly well versed in them, but wow... lots of information out there.
Also, do you, or anyone else for that matter, belong to a gun club? There is one not too far from here, and my wife and I have thought about joining them. They have competitive shooting matches, and maybe I could still find something to compete in. My back has really kept me from really competeing in the fishing tournaments like I used to, so I am looking for something. Obviously, my back has taken Tennis, Basketball, Football (how I hurt it as a teenager), bowling, and golf, plus everything else I've competed in away. Maybe competitive shooting will be a little easier on my back. Just don't know yet.
Thanks,
Danny
Hey Danny, Dennis here. I have owned a couple of Rossi's over the years, my daughters is a 6inch full underlug 357 with pachmar grips. it is a fantastic weapon it can shoot a lot better than I am able to, she on the other hand at a 10 yard target can put 6 in a 1 inch hole she can do a head shot at 25 yards using Hornady law enforcement ammo. This pistol is equal to the Smith and wesson it is designed after. Also their after perchase service is great too. after a quick fire match I realized something did not feel right on the last 2 shots I was shooting UMC 38 specials and the next to the last round had a partial misfire the bullet lodged in the barrel, but in the heat of the competion I fired the sixth round on instinct instead of brain power I thought #5 was clear well it was a hell of a kick but both bullets went down range. I still did not realize what all had happened until later that evening when I went to clean the weapon that I found the barrel had bulged but not by much I then realized how close I had been to losing some body parts. Well after a few phone calls remmington ask me to mail them the weapon and the unused rounds that I had left. I did and in about 2 weeks Remmington sent me a letter saying that they were not responsible in any way for what happened to the weapon, but they would send the firearm back to Rossi and a new barrel fitted at their cost. Three weeks later we recieved the gun back in the mail and it had a brand new barrel, they had disasembled and detailed every last piece of the weapon and even replaced a spring that had a small amount of rust on it and the even shipped the old spring back just so I knew they had done so. They also knew from our conversation on the phone when they first recieved the weapon, that it was a birthday gift for my daughter, so the master smith cleaned and polished the action and adjusted the pull to 4.5 double action and 2 lbs on the single, he even left a note to her about why he left it at 2 pounds when he could have went lower, he told her he had seen one too many want to be cowboys going to the emrgency room after tryig to quick draw and thumbing the action., so a great weapon at a fair price and good service might not make you look like a super star with a new Smith 500 or a desert eagle but when old school puts steel on steel and new school is still trying to find a site picture well give me old school.
Thanks Poppi,
I have a 357 mag. made by Dan Wesson. I was told that Dan is the brother of the Wesson in Smith and Wesson. I don't know if that is true or not, but I love the weapon. Great shooter. It has a 6.5 inch vented barrel, and I can put all 6 in the center circle at 75 feet, with little problem, but I am not a speed shooter. I'm now looking for a lever action rifle. That was what I was asking about, because I found those Puma rifles and it said they were made by Rossi. Sounds like Rossi was certainly a stand up company for you. Thanks for that information.
I love shooting my 30-30, and as long as I don't shoot beyond my eyesight, which is shrinking..lol, I am pretty accruate. Again, I am not a speed shooter. The weapon doesn't have a scope on it either. I'm just wanting a 357 rifle to match the handgun I carry. I hate having to carry two, three, or sometimes 4 different caliber shells when I go to the fields to shoot.
Thanks a lot Poppi!
Danny
Danny,
The Marlin 1895 is what you will find in the pistol caliber lever action. No, I have not purchased through GunAmerica, but like you find it to be very informative when looking for and finding price ranges on weapons. When buying, I use a Buds Gun shop here in Paris. A good bunch of guys to deal with.
Thanks Cobra, I guess I will go with Whitaker Gun Shop just north of here. They have over 6,000 weapons, and when I talked with them the other day, they had one in stock that I was interested in.Danny,
