    Barren walleye

from What i gather from reading, the plan is to stock the native walleye in the river above the lake. To, What i guess is to establish a spawning population of the native strain walleye in that lake as you have mentioned in the face of the hybrids. It sounds like a noble effort to stock the native walleye in a place where they were not dominate in the first place and i do not believe that the brood stock will come from there as they are not there from what I understand, so it will be a kind of experiment, to see what happens, and the avoid stocking native walleye in their original waters for fear of cross contamination with the erie strain which continues to be stocked in the native walleye drainage. To have a good walleye population on Barren with the hybrids, I would guess that you would end up with the dumping in of the erie strain and stocking a lot to have a good fishable population while the hybrids are stocked. If you cannot stock their native habitat and get a decent population(without trying to date) then it pretty much does not matter which walleye you stock does it,Just my opinion again and it is worth little

well they would have a good chance because the river has good rocks in it. also theres already a few below the dam. nolin ahs been up and down but thats because of other reasons. the lake is good size and has the depth and it would be a good chance they would do well. them fishing wildlife folks are at the top of there game and I have no dout in them. I would love to tear into some walleye there at the head water.

Actually Barren had some walleye in it before the river was impounded. I've got a pic of a good'un. It was right after they started holding water. It was the last one he caught over here on Barren.
