    Re: Gander Mtn. Evansville.... where??

I stopped by there today because the parking lot was pretty full and walked to the front door. A lady at the door said they open tomorrow (wednesday) at 9:00am. I guess they were doing last minute stuff to get ready. Im going to stop by after I get off work to check it out.

I'll drop by to check it out too. Guess they're opening up a little earlier than planned. I don't have any cash but I'll browse around some.
    Thanx for the info

I have to make a trip to E-ville in the morning anyways, guess I will try to stop by too. I was told that they would not be opening until the weekend after the next. The manager was talking to my cousin about some DNR related activities at the new store and this is what they told him.

Guess they are still planning the big grand opening though?

Didn't see one golf club, tennis racket, basketball, baseball or any other item related to any other sport other than hunting/fishing and camping.

Good fishing selection with some good electronics. Much better than anything else in this area.

    Re: Gander Mtn. Evansville.... where??

I have to agree with fishNnut and the other guys.

This new Gander Mountain Store is fantastic and much better than any other sporting goods store in this area. The next best thing would be the new Buck & Jakes store in Boonville. I don't really like the way ****'s is setup. The workers at Dicks are always so busy trying to put stock on the shelfs while at the new Gander Mountain Store I had three people asking me if I needed any help or if so they would be glad to help me find something.

This store is packed full of fishing gear and hunting gear. Guns and more guns. Bow and arrows and even an indoor bow and arrow shooting range.

I found the gunsmith shop ready to serve me. I am going to be sending one of my rifles to them to get a new safer trigger installed. Remington has a recall on my old rifle and will pay for the repairs. So I'll be getting a new trigger for my rifle very soon. The guys at Gander Mountain have already order the trigger from Remington and it will be on it's way to the Evansville Store.

They even have some nice Bass Tracker Boats on display at this store. A 175 Crappie Tracker and a 175 TX were on display.

If you are into trapping they have lots of trapping supplies. And if you are a reloader you will love this store. They have all types of lead shot, rifle and pistol bullets, primers, gun powder and reloading equipment for rifles and shot guns.

And they will carry live bait from the Evansville Worm Ranch in the coming days. So if you need minnows, worms, bee moths or crickets you can most likely find them at Gander Mountain's new store in the coming days. It's not ready now but it only takes a few hours for the Evansville Worm Ranch guys to ship the minnows to the new store.

Need some Crappie nibbles? Gander Mountain new store has not only the regular crappie nibbles but they also have the larger jars of the Neon Glow type nibble and even the new sparkle type nibbles

I picked up some of the new Yum Wooly Beavertail baits that Todd Huckabee is always talks about in the Crappie World magazine articles. BTW Todd is a very successful crappie guide and tournament fisherman from Oklahoma who finds slabs all year long.

I have been looking for some of those Wooly Beavertail baits and could not find them anywhere in town.

You need to buy some Sea Foam? Gander mountain has these in stock too.

Need a kayak or a canoe? You have a good selection to choose from at GM's new store.

I could go on and on about this store but you would be better served to go see it for yourselves.

It's not as big as the Bass Pro Shop store near Louisville, KY but it's a nice store.

I could not find my Drift Master Rod Holders that I was expecting to find nor could I find any Tite Loc rod holders either.

But I did get to see and play with the new Humminbird 997 Side Scanning/sonar unit and they also had the 797 Side Scanning unit on the display. I was surprised that to see the size of the 997 was much smaller than I imagined it would be. I can see why Humminbird is coming out with a new unit like the 997 only with a much larger screen size. This new unit is coming out soon. It will cost a few more hundred dollars to get the larger screen model. But it will be worth if if you all like the bigger screens.

    Moose,

Is it in the same center as the hobby store, or is it where the Burlington Coat Factory store was? That center off the Lloyd wouldn't be bad to get in and out of with a boat, but the one off Green River is about the worst entrance and exit of any store in town. It's on my way to KY/Barkley, so it will be pretty handy if I can get there with the boat.

    Re: Gander Mtn. Evansville.... where??

This parking lot (the one with the hobby lobby store and fox and hound and gander Mtn) is pretty easy to get around it with a boat. I took my boat over there one night after fishing all day. I wanted to see if and when Gander Mtn was going to open. The parking lot was not too crowded back then. But these days the Gander Mtn section has a lot more cars parked in their part of the lot. You still should be able to get though the lot OK. Now parking with the boat in tow is a different story. But still if you park far enough away from the store entrance you should be able to find two spaces in a line to park the truck and boat together. You may have to walk a little ways but it's not that far. The village commons has a pretty big parking lot.I found that you can also get to this shopping center the back way by following Indiana Street and coming in from the North. But you have to wind your way around a bit from Virgina Street. I went to Gander Mtn today and bought some more Wolly Beaver Tails Yum Baits and a bracket for my boat trailer. Man it's very easy to spend money in that place. LOL

Thanks fishNnut and Moose. I hate getting into a bad traffic situation with the boat behind me. Some places just don't consider that when they lay out the lot.

    Re: Gander Mtn. Evansville.... where??

Hey you guys that live over there in E'ville, would you do me a favor?

I need a replacement prop for my TM, it is a minnkota and I need the MKP-8 model. If you would, could you please check and see if they have one, and the price? It is $40 at my dealer, $45 with shipping from BPS, and was just wondering if it was any less expensive over there.

    Thanks in advance guys.

    Re: Gander Mtn. Evansville.... where??

I'll try to remember to check on that for you. I have to go there to take back a bracket that was the wrong size. Just not sure when I am going back into town. It's about 10 miles to the new store from where I live now.

I was looking for a spare prop for my Min-kota All Terrain AT50 but I can't find that one at any of the stores. I purchased my Minn-Kota at Walmart about three years ago. I found one prop for the AT55 but not for the AT 50.

I'll just keep looking and see what I can find.
