    Re: Boat Question

The width of the garage will have alot to do with what you can do. My Tr20 backed straight into my garage (24+') will fit with the tongue dropped out. However, if I trim the motor all the way down, turn it all the way to one side and push my boat diagonally in the garage, It gives me another few feet so I don't even have to mess with the tongue. I don't see getting a 196 in a 20.6' garage backed straight in, maybe if you have plenty of room play with on the sides.

I think i was mistaken, my garage is actually a little deeper, i believe a standard garage is like 21'-7" or so.

I have a Tr196 an with the break-away tongue. I have to break down the tongue and move the boat at an angle quite a bit to get mine in. My garage is 22.5 feet deep, but is wide and that's how I get mine in, plus the wife's Escape at an angle as well. Good Luck, maybe a 186 might be better.

I have a TR-176 with 5.5" CMC jack plate and 115 hp engine and swing-under tongue. My old garage was 19'6" deep and if I tilted the engine almost all the way down, I could get straight into the garage with 1" to spare and still get the door closed (LOL). With your garage size, you might get a 186 without a jackplate in. As mentioned, whether you can tilt sideways or not depending on width will play a big part. Also, you better measure exactly what your length is before you buy or you might be sorry. What's the old saying...measure twice, fit once

I just did some measuring a 196 is 22.8 and a 186 will be 21.3 both of these units have jackplates on them also.
Like mills said, you might go with a 186 if fitting it in is a must.
You can always cut the back of the garage out and add to it.

No way the wife would let me do that, is there a lot of difference between the two boats as far as options, I dont think 1' would make me alot of difference, but the options would. I know that with a 186 you get a 150hp on it. Do you know the top end speed of a 186 with a 150 on it?
