    Barren Info needed

I am going with a group of friends to camp and fish the 28-30 of Sept. I have never camped or fished Barren, so I am in need of any information. I fish pretty much for anything. Thanks in advance for any help.

Check with the corp of engineers or someone and make sure the campgrounds are still open. I think they are but some of them may be shut down then. Go to the Barren River fishing report on this site and there will probably be some numbers where you can double check this. The fishing should be good then, its decent now. Crappies should be good on minnows or jigs. Brushpiles and treetops in 13-17ft. of water. If you can't or don't know where any sunken brushpiles are at, pick a bluff where the channel swings next to it, around the main lake and slow troll it with jigs and minnows around the depth mentioned, keeping a close eye on your graph for any sweet spots you may encounter. Bass should be decent to, but I have little experience fishing for them on Barren. Points and ledges wouldn't be a bad place to look for them. Keep an eye out for the Hybrids. If you see any surface activity, try some topwater, spoons, or hairjigs for these monsters and you may get your arm broke, be ready there are some 20 plus lber's swimming in there. Be careful with navigating where your at there are some shallow spots on the lake, since the lake is down 5ft. or so. Really keep an eye out the further you are up in the creeks. Good luck.

If Bailey's Point is open, check out camping area C. You'll probably have the whole place to yourself. You can camp about 20 feet from the water and beach your boat right below camp. If Bailey's doesn't happen to be open, I do believe the campground at the spillway is open year round. You can check here:

Yes, Bailey's Point is a great campground. Had all the amenities you need, and the boat was 20-30 ft from the site. I think my wife and I stayed in "D." It is mostly used by campers/trailers, but we were in a tent. They had water side sights, with water and electric. It was great.
