I personally never had a "bad" smallie --- they're all good :-) tight lines

After talking to several local anglers i think i'll head back down to this lake come Spring. The bass fishing is excellent in the Spring (I'm told) and the smallmouth are supposed to be coming back maybe due to the 20" minimum? Either way i'm marking my calender for next May. Anyone fish this lake on a regular basis? In the Winter?

Fisherman are wild when it comes to smallmouth bass--I think most are more happy with a 2 lb. smallie than a 4 lb. green fish lol--Now if i can just come up with a good tasting beer called Smallmouth ill be ok--lol![]()
Ah yes...the elusive brownfish. After this summer of catching/loosing some good ones I can say that I am now addicted as well. I'm absolutely going to be hitting the lakes hard this fall/winter to get some more action. I might even try the fly for the first time this winter. If I can get out of the house I may come to the FNF get together to try and figure this rig out and meet some folks on here.
Hey waco wildcat do you know a B Wilson that lives in waco?
You guys are missing some fantastic fishing coming soon.
I'm not, I've got a bunch of good brownies in the boat before any F-N-F stuff ever starts. Guys TEE makes a good point, you do not have to fish the F-N-F in winter to catch smallmouth there are ALOT of other ways. I had an almost 20lb sack last year at the end of January on a 1/2 oz hairjig with a 3 inch grub on it. Tricked out jerkbaits, jigs, crankbaits and even topwater at times will get some big smallmouth when it's COLD. I've got nothing against that buggy whip pole and that teeny fly but it's not the only way believe me. Tee you can bet I'm getting ready for Oct and November, yee ha.
biggw,
I don't recognize the name. How old is the guy. I'm 24, but if he's older I've got some family that would know him if he's been there long.
I hope that I can catch some as well before that fnf bite comes around. I'm going to KY lake the first weekend in Oct. and I always seem to get a couple of smallies that time of year.
I can't wait to get one on FnF. my personal best was on a firetiger devilshorse. oooo nothing like a big smallie blowing up on a topwater.
I'm with elnut bring on the deep freeze. Stopped at Cabelas on the way to Canada this year and right there in the bargin bin was matching parka and bibs in the guide series thinsulate, can't wait. Now I just have to get into those fish like he speaks of.
My best smallie was 5-14. It was double fun because it blew up on a Pop-R. It's like hooking into a submarine.
