    Question Stupid Tubes??

Does anyone have any info on these??
I see Terry McWilliams finished 2nd at the Northern Divisional at Erie Last week and he credited a Stupid Tube rigging for his success. When I watched him at the BassMaster classic he had a 4th place finish using it. I also saw Mark Zona on Worlds greatest Fishing Show absolutely whack em using this technique, but no one actually showed how they are rigging it what makes it unique.
    Anyone have any insight??

    Re: Stupid Tubes??

It consists of a tube jig head and any tube that can accommodates the jig head. Slide the jig head all the way up the tube and then poke the hook eyelet through. The jig head is inside instead of outside the tube.

    Re: Stupid Tubes??

No thats not right - The stupid tube is not riged like that. that is how you would normally rig a Tube with the hook exposed. It is hard to explain but I will try. You use a jig head but you start buy putting the hook in the tube first. Poke the hook out of the tube towards the top but leave enough room for the jig head to stay at the top of the tube. Now your jig head is on the inside of the tube but the hook shank is on the outide. Proceed to rig the hook back into the tube so it is weedless. It can be through the tube or off to the side which ever you prefer. The whole point of th stupid tube is that it is weedless and the weight is inside the tube itself. Hope you can understand this.

    Re: Stupid Tubes??

Thanks for the help!! I went to Honeycreektackle.com to order them and they gave me Terry McWilliams contact info. I went out fishing with him yesterday and all I can say is this is an awesome rig to be throwing. He rigs it differently than illustrated above (I can't do computer animation or I would put it on here). The tubes and jigheads from honey creek do come with a diagram. I am sure you can probably use any jighead and any tube and make it work, but what he is using and how he is using it he says is the best available way he has found. It is unbelievable how this presents in the water. Pick it up and it never falls the same way... Once it darts left... then maybe right.... then maybe straight down....
The best thing about them is they are cheap baits to use!! They may not be $15+ baits, but they catch fish!
You can reach Terry at www.fishindy.com

    Re: Stupid Tubes??

That method is nothing new. The river-rats have been using that technique for years. When Bobby Garland invented the tube he never ever mean't for it to be T-Rigged. It looses it's fall it was intended for, an inserthead. So to keep the fall of the tube how it was meant to be, yet you can fish it in nasty cover. You can call it what ya want, but don't call it new.
