The IDNR was out working hard today filling in the deep holes that have developed at the Ends of the concrete ramps at Bluegrass, Loon and Otter Pits.

Each hole at the end of the concrete ramp was filled with a big dump truck load of #2 size gravel. Then they used a special trailer that had a snow plow type thing on the back of the trailer. The shovel was connected to a wench which allowed the blade to be raised or lowered. After they dumped the gravel in the holes they just backed the trailer with the blade on the back end down the ramp and leveled the pile of gravel out to make it even.

I was told that they were also going to do some work on the gravel launch ramps and level them up tomorrow.

If everyone is careful to not power load their boats on their trailers this month we may be able to launch boats without the trailer wheels dropping off the end of the ramp into a big hole.

These repairs are temporary as it won't take much to wash them holes out again.

Lets just hope that we get some heavy rains that can raise the water levels back up to normal. That would go a long way toward solving this problem

I have a feeling that if we cause too much washing at the ends of these ramps they may stop allowing the bigger motors on the lake. Now this is just total speculation on my part but I think that IDNR won't want to be spending too much time and money repairing holes each month if people keep washing the rock away and creating new holes. I would not like to see them go back to trolling motor only on these lakes.

I know it's not easy getting those big boats back up on the trailers without giving it some gas.
