Re: Please help, Gramps opened his mouth, when he should have kept it shut

Thanks Steve and Don, I really do appreciate it.

I do remember, in my younger years, fishing off of a dock and catching more crappie than the paid guides around the marina were catching. It was funny, seeing the facial expressions on those who had spent several hours on the water, when I raised my basket to put in another fish. I figured they were either kicking theirself for having PAID someone to carry them fishing or just thought "lucky kid" .

Again thanks and if you think of any other advice or anyone else has somethng to add, please do not hesitate. Maybe Gramps will pull this off after all, with your help.

Shoot me an e-mail and I may be able to give you some additional information. I fish the Moor's area every weekend. [email protected]

You've got lots of opportunity there around Moors without going far. Fish the marina, it holds fish. But I highly recommend going out and around the corner to Malcolm Creek and Buckhorn Bay on the flats, which should have plenty bass on them, both largemouth and whites. I'd recommend throwing blue/chrome Rattle Traps. A boy of 8 yrs can cast that thing all day and never know what he might catch. The fish are scattered all over those flats feeding on the big balls of shad, so there's no real precision casting needed. You just cast it as far as you can and search for a school until you find one, and then it gets exciting! If they aren't up on the flats, look for some grass and work the bait out from it along the edge. Saturday I fished the Rattle Trap hard and caught largemouth, white bass, yellow bass, a perch, and a 20+ lb drum that completely inhaled that bait - it inhaled it so deep that it could close it's mouth and you'd never know a bait was in there, and it was a 1/2 oz size Rattle Trap!!! Anyhow, good luck out there and I hope your Grandson has a great time!
