Hey Danny, the padding is kind of like the padding used in factory's in front of work stations. It's a poly material that is water proof. It will not absorb anything and stays completly dry. It also is breathable which alows the carpet in the padded area to dry much quicker. It's kind of like standing on an inch of very dense foam.
