No i wouldnt punch anyone who doesnt swing first and really im not violent at all,ask anyone who knows me.I just have a severe patience problem, always have.I go down there for a good time and to relax and it just makes me mad that someone would want to take that from another.I like fishing with people who have alot of patience because it helps even everything out and helps keep it all in perspective..Your not a wuss at all and i didnt mean to imply that. You just have a good perspective of it all and a lot of patience and that is definutely one up on me.Good luck to all and remember treat people like you want to be treated and call somebody on a discourtesy politely because maybe they didnt realize and they learn. But in the end the only person you can control is you.

You would have had to been there and have to know me to see i did everything i could do.I give everybody way more courtesy then ive been given and thats no big deal,i do what i think is right.Actually the guy got asked nicely twice[5 minutes apart]On the third time he got invite to fish beside us.I will not leave a spot im wearing them out at until im ready, and no fool is going to own me like that. The ones in my livewell are our fish and the ones that are not should be.lol.I didnt actually hit him with my rattle trap,he ran into it because the space he was in was my known target.Like what was stated before if you run over them there gone.He was running through them like he was a member of P.E.T.A.If you were fishing a tournament and someone rolled up beside you and started throwing stick and rocks where you were fishing, how nice can you be?People have already been killed for discourtesy and i will never take it that far or fight over it,but i will let someone know that im not happy about it.Maybe they honestly didnt know better but if they do its like a slap in the face to me.Please dont judge what you dont know....Sincerely..not trying to start an arguement or a beef....John

i guess maybe i'm just a wuss or something, his actions weren't right as many other fishermans aren't either.I just didn't see courtesy in either of your actions.I personally wouldn't have done that.Back when i fished tnt tournaments at the ville we were fishing a point with worms and jigs slowly,
another team came up wide open set down went to the other side and came around on us and actually caught our lines, twice with cranks, dressed the part with all the stickers and such.i politely asked if they could go around and i got cussed and what not,i told them good luck and left we had 2 keepers off it.That is only one of quiet a few times i have gave up a spot,i have no property sign there so if i don't want to fish close to them i'll leave.
i'm not trying to argue or be dis respectful but regardless if he was wrong i don't see courtesy in launching lures at someone.I would guess if someone disagrees with you you give them a couple chances to agree and if not you would punch him?i'm just baffled how such a relaxing sport has gotten so cuthroat.Don't take it out on someone else because time and gas are a factor.jmo no hard feelings to any.

Just remember that it works both ways. I have been fishing that spot from my boat when someone will beach theirs and start casting where I am fishing. I consider that to be the same as someone pulling up and anchoring on top of me. I always respect shorebound anglers because they are limited to the water that they can reach. However, since these people choose to beach their boat instead of fishing out of it, they should give respect to the fisher that was there first. I do not mind sharing a spot as long as all involved show a little courtesy and common sense.

I feel like a lot of the problem is that you have guys going after different kinds of fish down there. To get into the hybrids, you have to get passed the whites - so you may have guys in a boat sitting on top of the whites that are going after the hybrids...which causes a problem for the guys catching whites...

Not an expert on the situration, but that's just my observation...

I've seen an ordeal like this go on for years below KY Dam - you had striper fishermen in boats fishing right where snaggers were casting from the bank to catch paddlefish...which lead to arguements and confrontations that would get ugly, mainly because striper fisherman didn't like it when a 5+ oz weight hit their boat! I'm a snagger and fling at least a 5 oz out there and if the striper fishermen wanted to get in my way, then that's their fault! Anyhow, KDFWR finally stepped in and put limitations on snagging to keep altercations between snaggers and striper fisherman to a minimum. Maybe if there is enough uproar and disagreements at McAlpine, KDFWR will step in and prohibit bank fishing from the island, which is probably how they would solve that.
