Keep bragging Dave and I will have to start following you around LOL That is if I can keep up !
I didn't have the best weekend with bass, other than the yellows - I couldn't stop catching those. Are the Yellow/white bass thicker than normal - I really have never caught that many - almost every cast. A few small green fish, but nothing to brag about. Hopefully this week will be better.
It's just all part of the fall schooling action! They're pretty good to eat, and pretty easy to load a freezer with them this time of year!
Seems pretty normal to me, but their numbers still seem fewer than years past. I remember in the mid 90's during the summer when I could get on the whites in the jumps and load the boat in no time at all. Back then, it was common to have 8 or 10 boats circled up around the school on a flat catching them two at a time! I haven't seen that in a long time! Used to be that Barkley Lake was pretty hot with them around the mouth of the canal, on the flats near the dam, on the flat by the Ashland Oil terminal, and around the island on the main lake near Buzzard Rock...I really miss those good ol' days! I was a white bass fisherman before I ever got into Largemouth fishing...![]()
i miss those days too... the flat coming out of kuttawa harbor that drops into the river... every afternoon from 3 or 4 til dark, 5 or 6 boats throwing flies behind a cork, wearing them out! i would fill up a cooler once a week and then fish the other 5 or 6 just for fun
I have been catching more yellow bass than I have ever seen here on the lakes this fall. Catching some whites also....some nice ones now and then but no numbers....catching quite a lot of rockfish and hybrids too. Just to clarify...I am catching all of these while fishing for LM and SM...they are eating my spinnerbaits.I didn't have the best weekend with bass, other than the yellows - I couldn't stop catching those. Don't be modest Dave. Your status as a legeng on the twins has been well documented. The whites were pretty partial to a chrome/blue rattletrap last weekend also. If I caught 1 I caught 100. Some smaller than the bait with some good sized ones in the mix also. Still trying to firm up a date soon to get my dad and I out for a day of fun fishing with you.
Looking forward to meeting your dad and spending another day on the lake with you. The weather has been beautiful here the past few days and the weekend looks good...looks like it may get a little nasty the first part of next week..at least as far as the wind is concerned.
LOL...If I could have days like that half the time I would be a legend. The bite was slower today..not really sure why...we had some keepers but no big fish nor as many fish. Still, it was a beautiful fall day on the big lakes...wind is gonna get up tomorrow...wouldn't be Ky Lake without some wind now and again...lol.
