A friend and I had the pleasure of spending Veteran's Day (on Monday) with Onemorecast on the Ohio River at Louisville. We wanted to learn a little about the river below McAlpine Dam, so Onemorecast was nice enough to take us out and show us the ropes. Boy, was it an entertaining and educational day!
In Doug's big center console bay boat, we covered about 12 miles of river from the Greenwood ramp all the way to McAlpine Dam. Doug (Onemorecast) shared his vast knowledge of the river and showed us not only how to locate the fish, but how to catch them. We caught fish at every place Doug stopped the boat... sauger, white bass, hybrids, white perch, catfish, and several other species. Either live minnows or small white twisters seemed to work best for us on this particular day.
I can't say enough about Doug and his knowledge of the Ohio River. It's great fun to watch somebody who really knows his stuff as he works his magic. And very educational, too. Doug seems to have radar under his cap when it comes to finding the big sauger. Somehow he managed to hook a bunch of them while two other fishermen in the boat couldn't come close to matching his catch. Thanks to Doug, we brought home over 20 nice sauger that should make some mighty fine eating in the near future.
Doug, thanks again for your fine hospitality and a great day on the water! Can't wait to do it again sometime.
Good fishing!
