cumberland, dale hollow and green are probably the best 3 spots.as far as how can't tell you much there,on green fish channel breaks find any cover on them and try minnow tipped jigs, fuzz e grubs and twisters work well, you may even get some good crappie.i would say dale and cumberland are about the same, try some breaklines and long points with cover on them.
Nolin also Cumberland is your best bet.
I am sure you already know the answer to this mysterious question. From now and I do mean NOW until march where would one find the greatest concentration of walleyes??? I like to catch them using nightcrawlers on lindy rigs during the day and casting rogues or husky jerks around sunset in shallower water. HINT.They will migrate upstream as far as they can go during this time of year, only stopping because of a physical barrier. Good Luck!
Nolin is supposed to have a large population of walleye. MSGMills has caught a few nice ones out of there I think.
I grew up fishing Nolin. My dad owned a cabin there. He's fished walleye all over the state and say's Nolin is the best hands down. I don't fish for walleye very much anymore but I do catch alot of walleye at Nolin throwing crankbaits for bass in the fall at Nolin.
I've caught plenty of them At Nolin. My personal best is 26" man was that nice fish..... caught them on a RC5 Shad Rap in natural color. My oldest son even caught one close to 19" on a small 1/8 th oz White Spinner bait.
The amish do real well down there. They seem to have it figured out year around.
The numbers have diminished at Nolin ,In the early 90's we used to do quite well but in the past few years it's been hard to find any walleye ....at least for me
In Feb. Upstream from Bacon Creek is good ......jigs tipped with minnows
When you guys are tipping jigs with minnows, do you use grubs, too, or is it just a plain jighead with a minnow on it?
missionFISHIN,
You seem to have the most information about walleyes on here so hope you can give some location advice. I live across from Burnside State ramp so that is the area I fish reguraly. I have had pretty good luck with the stripers but zero in the walleye department. Any suggestions for what to use and where to fish for them in that area? Any one else hooking any walleyes in this area?
Cumberland River from Wolf Creek to Helms Landing........Deep Pool before the first ripple from wolf creek is one of the BEST spots..........and then the DEEP pool before Helms is another spot.......
Crankbaits in natural colors will work..........
A bonus is LOTS of trout.......
Later,
Geo
