When fishing during mid-winter, two things effect bass behavior...the epilimnion and metabolism. During the winter months as the sun warms the surface water, the epilimnion sinks and settles to around 10ft. As O2 levels drop in the deeper H2O, bass will find that comfort zone between warmth and O2 levels, which is around that magical 10ft depth. With slowed metabolism, those bigh brown fish will be setting there waiting for those little doctored hair jigs on those long, speciality rods causing those long awaited adrenaline rushes that only can be described as the F-N-F season.
