I haven't fished FnF either, but I would not be surprised if the action is significantly different. Like you, I've done my share of fishing using a slip bobber, sometimes with a jig, but more often with live bait below it. One of the things I've read about FnF fisherman doing is taking the slack out of the line and giving the rod a good shake. The wiggling gets transferred down the line to the bobber, which will move back and forth, and in turn wiggle the jig. You can sort of do this with a slip bobber in place, and I do it occasionally, but the line moves up and down in the bobber, acting as kind of a shock absorber, so the jig itself moves very little.
