Rough River

Thinking of heading to Rough Saturday morning to do some bass fishing.. has anyone been recently and have any kind of info?? just going for fun with my cousin and was wanting to get into some bass and maybe some hybrids too

I don't claim to be the best fisherman on Rough, but for me, the fishing has been pretty poor there lately. The lake is almost at summer pool and not dropping, which is unusual for this time of year. I went last Saturday and caught one short largemouth on a rattle trap, one short largemouth and a big crappie on a crankbait. That was it. A couple weeks before that I caught two keepers on a jig around shallow wood and several short fish on a crankbait on secondary points. The water temperature is in the low 50's. I have never fished Nolin, but it is near winter pool, and I hear people have been catching a few fish there.

Fished a tournament last Friday. Although it was cold the fishing was pretty good. Most fish were caught cranking. It took 11+lbs to win and 4.5lb was big fish. I was personally up toward the river and had 3 that went around 6.5lb. Good luck.

Me and a freind was up too rough a few weeks ago and he hooked a 10lb hy way up in cliffey creek but no bass up there then.Bass fishing was great befor the rain came and up went the water.Good luck let us know how you do i got a tournament up there on the 9th.thanks raincheck
