I have the same BPS rod and I love it. Myself, I wouldn't buy a Loomis FNF rod but I'm all for Loomis Bass rods. I'm not in the market for new rods but if I was I would look at Shimano. Do they make a FNF rod?

Shimano compre 8'0 and a 8'6 light action. I think they would make a good F-N-F rod. I seen them on the Backwaters.com site.

Just my opinion but in the FNF you don't need the sensitivity of a upper end rod. The bps micro lite seems to be fine. The reel and line seems to be the area to concentrate on?

I ordered two Shimano Compre 8'0 for tournament legal size and I also ordered the 9'0" for bigger open water fishing. I also just purchased the 8'6" Bass Pro 8'6" I guess I will have almost all of the sizes covered for now til I decide which ones I like best.

I love my BPS micro lites, 9 & 9'6. I agree that the reel is more important than the rod, I've been using the BPS Viper reel w/10 lb power pro braid and 4-6 lb floro, it's been a great combo for me these past few years. I just wish I had more time to FNF through the winter.

For me The 8'6'' is a little too short. I Love the 9'6'' version of the bps micro fnf rod. You would be suprised by what an extra foot will do to you casting distance and control over you cast. As for a reel I use A pflueger president spinning reel. For Braid I use Berkley Fireline Crystal flash and for my leader I use Seagaur Invisix. 100% flouro. I like the seagar ALOT better than vanish.I hate berkley vanish. I work at a Old tyme hardware store and we are a small bass pro dealer (We have plenty of stuff though), and I sell alot of bps micro lites. Instead of spending the money to buy a g-loomis, buy you 2 or 3 good fnf rigs. Come on down and I will fix you up with everything u need. I live in Hazard,ky... Might be a long drive but It will be worth it

Re: fnf what braid and what fluorocarbon should i use

For whatever reason, I have the 8'6" BPS micro-lite and use all fluorocarbon and I have no problem casting it to a distance where I'm struggling to even see the bobber well enough to know if it turns over. Since I'm usually one of the least skilled at fishing, I'm curious as to why people keep mentioning the difficulty in casting.

Maybe I just have bad eyes!

OK, all you guys that are FNF fishing have got me curious about trying this out.

Totally new to it altogether and need a list of the basics I need to buy in order to do this. So can someone step up to the plate and give me a list of items I need. I did see the FNF Kit on the FNF web site for like 39.99, came with two floats, 12 flies, and a couple of other items.

With all my spare time I would love to learn to tie my own flies, but need a list of that stuff as well.

Willing to learn, cause I hate staring at these walls every day with nothing to do when it's cold outside. My back will only let me do so much due to the pain level I am in 24/7..... Plus the meds I take keep me almost constantly at home.
