I'm going to guess that it doesn't make that big of a difference since you're watching the bobber and not the line, but if all else is equal (ie price) then I'd go with the crystal.

Haven't fished it yet, but I bought the Crystal for my fnf rig. I will let you know as soon as I get out on the water. Hopefully this weekend, but the rain is worrying me a little.

If I remember correctly Mr. Headrick(sp?) of Punisher Lures said he liked it and used it at the Backwaters FNF Seminar. He mentioned he could see it better.

I used fireline crystal for F-N-F fishing last year and will use it again this year. It is easier to see than the grey fireline. I use the 6lb test fireline for castability.

I would just get smoke as a general rule. It might help if you have trouble seeing your bobber.

I like it as a visual tool. I tie about 50' of flouro 6 as a sort of tippit. Flouro is so hard to manage and expensive that I prefer to use only a small amount. This way you can see if your line jumps just a little. Also, I use 3/8 or 4/10 and join with a uniknot. I've found this doesn't hang up in the guides and it doesn't break very often...that is the palomar at the bait will go first.

    Hope this helps.
