    Anyone Fish Brookville lately???

I am thinking of going to Brookville this weekend coming up and wanting to know if anyone has fished there lately for anything. I will fish for smallies, walleye, crappie or stripers. I went about a month ago and it was tough. Did talk to a guy jerking spoons and he caught a couple walleye so that may be an option. I know Ray Rigby is the man on Brookville so if he reads this i would like for him or anyone that has a report to email me if you don't want to post the report on here. Thanks in advance and i will let you know how i do if i can get out. My email is [email protected] Thanks again.

Tom, sorry I didn't see this sooner. I have been over to B-Ville quite often this late fall. I have not been smallie fishing though, been chasing walleye and doing quite well with them. We have had a couple over 5 pounds and my partner had a 7 pounder the other day. We have caught some smallies but were not targeting them. We have been fishing in 25-35ft. of water with a jigging spoon tipped with minnows (Bass Minnows) The white spoons seem to make a difference. We were using small hops right off the bottom. We have also caught a few on silver buddy's. The water temps just dropped under fifty this past weekend.

Tom, went yesterday, but the eye fishing was off a little. We had two keeper eye's and couple short ones. We had one decent smallie and a crap load of the biggest white bass I have ever seen. We had 10-11 between 1.5 and 2 pounds. No they were not wipers or small stripers, but white bass. We kept them for the frying pan. We did have a few stripers as well, no size though. The fish came on silver buddy's and jiggin spoons tipped with minnows in 25-35ft. of water. They were caught off of gradual sloping banks.

Thanks Ray i might make it out there on Saturday if i can. The little lady might really get on me about Christmas shopping. I might even try to fish the float n fly a little out there if the water is cold enough which i think it should be at 50 or below. Thank you very much for the report.

I live about 20 minutes from Brookville and feel like I don't take advantage of it. The few times I did fish there wasn't good. What size spoon do you use for the eyes? Is this a standard jigging spoon presented in the typical verticle presentation? do you still use a treble hook when tipping with minnows? I'd love to catch a few eyes for the pan - thanks for any advice.

Lowe, i'm no walleye expert by any stretch of the imagination. I just started doing it this year because of all the boots (Walleye) I caught while smallie fishing. Yes I use regular ole jiggin spoons, usualy in 1/2oz. to 1oz. with a treble hook and minnow. I don't know if this is the proper way or not, but it has worked for me the last 5-6 weeks Yes I am just vertical jiggin them right off the bottom. If you have a decent graph, just mark the bait fish and the fish will be there. It might be walleye, white bass, stripers or smallies. You just never know what the arches are on the graph. I am having a ball so far.

    Re: Anyone Fish Brookville lately???

A couple of years ago I purchased the In-Fisherman book about Fishing for Smallmouth bass. I never catch any small mouth and figured I need to learn more about where the live and how to catch them.

I did read the book and it talked about Walleye's being in the same spot as smallmouth. The walleyes are said to run the smallies out of the favorite spots and different times of the year.

Looks like Ray is finding the Walleyes. Those eyes are good eating Ray. Very pure white meat that falls off the bones. And they fillet nice too. It's easy to fillet them up and get almost all the rib bones out of the fiilet.

Good luck on the new thing you have going.
