    Dale Conditions?

Just wondering if anyone has been on Dale lately? Water level? Planning on heading down next weekend, making sure there is still enough water to launch in lol.... Probably launching out of the State dock.

On Saturday in Horse Creek and Indian Creek the water temperature was 54° and the water was super clear. Action seemed slow, but it was my first time there so not much to compare to. Only fished FnF.

I have this coming weekend planned to fish Dale, but with the temps dropping down into the 20's on Friday and Saturday after this front, I am reluctant to go down. What do you guys think?

    Re: Dale Conditions?

I fished down there yesterday and to say the fishing for us was tough is an understatement. First time we've been skunked in a while. I think the extreme warm front messed up the fishing....or atleast that's what I'm blaming it on. Had some bites and a couple of shake offs but that was it. Mainly fished jigs and jerkbaits and threw the fly a little (even though it was 70 degrees outside). I wasn't at the get together because I could only fish on Sunday. Still had a good time though. Lake was real clear where we fished around mitchel creek. Water temp got as high as 56. We launched out of Mitchel Creek Marina not to much trouble. Just stay to the side and watch out for a 1 ft drop off. It's kind of funny though. I usually go fishing wanting warm weather and in will blow a cold front. This time I went fishing wanting cold weather and in blows a warm front. Go figure.

Thanks for your report. I am trying to figure out what a sudden drop in temp will do. It sounds it can't get any worse.

    Re: Dale Conditions?

We had 11 Fri and only 4 on Saturday (as a consolation....one was pushing 5). We fished mainly in the black water for suspended fish. They were aggressive early and late. We didn't really fish much FNF except as a follow up when we'd miss one on the jig up shallow. Shallow being 15-30'

If I were you, I'd fish up in Northern Creeks and clear water. Points and pockets off the main creek or river channel. Wood or grass would be worth a cast. Fish the FNF sparingly. Keep the boat in at least 40' and work the bluffs in the creeks thoroughly. I would fish something yellow 8^).

State Ramp is good for lauch.

Water is low and the fish are biting, load the boat and go. And leave that FnF crap at the house, take a jig and go have a hay day. 15-25'. Quite a few people I know have been drillin them down there for the last three weeks.

With all the rain we've had and are going to get, the bigger lakes(Dale and Cland) will be on the rise. Water temps will probably come up a few degrees.
