    Rough River dam work

I noticed that the lake level for Rough is 6' up from summer pool. Are they still working on the dam and if so, are they close to being done?

    Re: Rough River dam work

This has all the makin's to become a bad deal for the COE. If they open the gates all their work will be washed away and if they don't shoreline, docks, etc. could be damaged. I have heard that if the water level comes to 15 feet above summer pool they have no choice but to open the gates and release water, that is hear say. With the recent rain and forcast for rain and snow expected it won't take a whole lot to reach the 510 foot mark.

    Re: Rough River dam work

As of this morning it is 504.7. If they have to let water out and it destroys all of the work to this point, then they have to start over. Thyis does not bopde well for the spring spawn. Any idea of an estimated completion time?

    Re: Rough River dam work

In past years I`ve seen Rough as high as just below flood pool (524.) and still holding due to ohio and green river flooding below. Unless they think the dam won`t hold up at flood pool, why would they turn it loose and destroy all that work. JMHO, Tom.

I was told by a corps officer that they expected to be finished by January, until then whatever came in would be held and if it got to the spillway it would have to run out there.

    Re: Rough River dam work

I live on the Rough river in Ohio Co, it is about 400 yrs from my house at this time due to all the rain we are flooded down this way. It is up more than I have seen it in a ling time. If that dam failed right now or they had to release a lot of water Hartford would flood, but on the bright side I could launch my boat from my yard.
