Thumbs up More Posts, less lurkers!

If you're reading this, take a moment to give a fishing report. The number of views VS the number of posts here is unreal. I know a lot of people say they are just here to watch and learn, but there is always someone who can benifit from your input, if you are willing to give. I made a post, "The Ohio River is Hot", not long ago and I know a good 100 fishermen hit the river after reading it. Every one of you should have given your 2cents after fishing. Let's all participate. Give as good as you get, for everyone's sake!

    My report from cannelton dam

I fished cannelton dam for sauger last Friday. It was a bust. They had all the gates open, the water was muddy, and the current was fast. Now, with all this rain, I don't know WHEN I will be able to get back there to fish. I did hook 2 fish, but both of them got off before i could get a good look at them, so I don't even know if they were sauger or not.

On the other side, I will be fishing an old gravel pit that used to be connected to the Ohio river Friday for crappie. I will be fishing out of my kayak because it is almost impossible to get a boat larger than a kayak into this lake. I'll post a report to let you know how it goes.

i have been a member for several years. when i first joined, more posting and better info was being shared. i still post regularly when i am on the water because i am passionate about fishing. while i am no pro, hopefully the info i pass can help others in some way. wished more would do the same. even if it is just water conditions, it helps. good luck to all.

This site has been the best I have found by far in terms of people sharing fishing info. I just got a PM from a member helping me with my questions about Dale Hollow, and I hope I can return the favor to him and others that need help.

I do read alot of post here without posting myself. Mainly because I am a displaced kentucky boy who longs to fish my old haunts again. Now I could post alot of smallmouth river reports but not many people are that interested in the New River in West Virginia unless you live close. I do venture back some to fish KY/Barkley two or three times a year, but my posts would not do justice to what people who live near it and fish it much more than me. This is a great site for information. I have learned alot in the past few years reading peoples posts. You should see the looks I get when I float the river in Dec. with snow flying and a 10 foot F-N-F rod in hand. Keep it going and I 'll share my Knowledge ( what little I have) with anyone who needs it. I'll even take people to my fishing spots if they want to try something a little different.

If you'll research you will see that I have shared many a post of fishing outings and especially on my favorite lake which is Cumberland. All that being said I've learned to be cautious about being too much of a blabber mouth and instead help those who want my humble opinion via e-mail or private message. Meathogs frequent these sites and NEVER post only read, take in and go rape fishing holes. I understand what you are saying and I feel your pain but it's a double edged sword and you have to use some restraint at times. I hope this made some sense I know alot of guys on here know exactly what I'm talking about. There are some great guys on this site that will give you the shirt off their back I've fished with several of them, Redneckshadrap, APB, BGW, to name a few and they are some of the best guys you'll ever meet, but they will tell you what I'm telling you, you've got to be careful. Talke care, Mark.

    Re: More Posts, less lurkers!

    heres my two cents!

barkley has been good after warm, stable weather... some shad are still schooling shallow late in the afternoons, most fish are transitioning out to deeper water 8-12 feet... shad pattern crank baits have been productive on low pressure days, pig and jig or shakey head when pressure is high (i've been using the exodus baits stick worm (5") in green pumpkin red for the shakey head)

spinnerbaits have been hit and miss, white color 5/8 oz. or 3/4 oz. slow rolled over wood, been real productive and real boring, haven't really found a pattern to it yet

Yep, Mark those are the folks I was trying to reach out too. The ones who gobble up information on this and other sites and go catch fish, but never return the favor. They know who they are.

I did a float trip on the New this fall. I've fished a lot of places, and that was one of the colest fishing trips I've been on. Its as close to Lexington as Barkley and I plan on heading back that way in the Spring so I'm definetely interested in reading reports about the New.

Fairly new to board but did fish Barren this morning for Crappie. Used jigs and had 10 keeper fish between 9:00 and 11:30. Most of Lake is muddy and will probably get worse. Did find a little fishable water on Bailey's Point side of Lake. Did not go any further up than mouth of peter's creek.
