Any of the aforementioned lakes, with a lot big enough to build your own 5 acre pond, for those days that you just don't feel like taking out the boat, or those inevitable periods when the lake fishing is just "off," for whatever reason.

I like Rough River or Barren. My reasons are I live in Louisville and they are close enough that I don't spend a lot of time in the car driving to the lake, if you just have enough time to get away for the night.

I think in terms of fishing, Ky or Barkley is hard to beat for year round fishing. The prices on Barkley are a little more reasonable than Ky, and it is a little easier to be more secluded if that is what you are looking for. I haven't fished a lake in Kentucky that I would not like to live on, especially if you are right on the water.

My pick would be Nolin. It too is a great multi-species lake, and with the relaxation part you would have to weigh in the possible less traffic on the waterthat is a constant on the larger bodies.
