I`m going to buy one of these brands, Ive never owned one of these before trying to pick one of these brands, Humbird, lowrance, eagle, I have never owned one before. I am probably going to spend at max around 500 to 800. But my true question is what brand at a good value would you pick or have. Sorry for using one so much kind of funny.

Lowrance makes an awesome unit. The LMS-522C is in your price range and would be easiest to install.
I have a Lowrance 5200c on my boat, but I would recommend getting the 5300, it has the GPS and Sonar info and it comes with the built in Global maps. But you can purchase the 07 Hotspots maps for an additional 149.00 from BPS, they had a 50.00 rebate off the cost of the Hotspots...
Eagle an Lowrance are the same companies like GMC and Chevy. The only difference are Eagles run a little cheaper but my advice for you is is to look at the 520 series from lowrance they are in your price range they have a 520,
522, 525, an a 527 I think the 525 and 527 have internal gps receivers I know that the 527 is internal cause I have one, it cuts down on on the issues with a puck and the unit is the top of that series and runs about $700. I would suggest to also buy a ram mount and a navionics premium chip too they are awesome and if you buy the ram mount if no one steals it, it will the the last one you'll ever buy. All the should run around $800 depends on if you buy the 07 premium of the 08.
I have all lowrance and that said, i have not had much issues with the units. i have fished with some fellas that have the new line of humminbird gps/finder combos and have been very impressed. the 700 series especially has more power and more lines of vertical resolution than any comparably priced lowrance i believe.
Thank you for the insight the only way to find out about a unit is to ask. Ive only ever had cheaper units on my boat so this is really new to me. I try to shave the fishing budget were I can so I can buy more of what I want or need threw the year.
The following link is a great info spot for eletronics of all kinds. A lot of smart people plus mfg people on it.

Good luck.
If you are interested I have a Lowrance LMS-332 color that was originally $1049.00 but now is only $649.00 since it has been replaced with a new model. It works great and I like it but it only has a 5" screen and I would like to get a larger screen will sell for $450.00 and you are welcome to come see it work on the water if you would like. I have Navionice chip in it but it will not come with it, you would need to get your own chip if you want it.
On another note I have always used Lowrance and no disapointments. Eagle is almost identical as they are made from same company but will generaly have less pixels.
Justin...if you would like to barter for some guided bass fishing on Ky/Barkley for that unit give me a call or drop me an email.

I agree with most on here. The Lowrance 520 series are hard to beat. Easy to use, great display in sonar and GPS. Definitely spend the money on the navionics card with it - Great lake makes.
If Dave hasn't already claimed that 322 from Justin- that is a hard to pass up deal.
Dave - I didn't know you would trade for trips - I have a garage full of stuff to offer!! lol
LOL....I will if I want something.
